Do you mend torn paper currency?

One of the peculiar things that I do is to tape torn paper currency that I receive so as to enable it to continue on its journey beyond my hands. I see such torn paper bills kind of like being wounded souls, and bringing them home apply clear scotch tape to their wounds so as to prevent them from worsening before sending them back out on their journey. Is anyone else a “money mender?” What other peculiar things do you do?

We in the Uk have been using Polymer Notes from 2016... ..so they don't tear or fold....

Hi Firefox, I also use scotch tape especially on the $1 bills. I use those whenever I take the local bus The fare is $2-1 way,$4-round trip

Yes, as well as torn paperback books. I trade a lot at the used book store.

I first came across Polymer notes in Australia. I just did a quick check, and they started using them in 1992. Obviously they last far longer, but they still feel weird to me. I also like they maintained different sized notes for different denominations. That's something the US doesn't do.

You can cut the corners off your twenty (it will still be good) then tape those corners to a one... oh wait that's against the law.
Hah. I once was a bank teller who had to count $300,000 a day for my ATM machines. One day I saw one of those fake 20's fly by in the counter, from my brick of 20's sent from the supposedly perfect Federal Reserve.

It depends on how torn it is but, yes. I have done this.

You can bring it to any bank and they will exchange it for undamaged bills. Pallet loads of damaged bills are destroyed daily at the Fed.

Canada started with the polymer notes in 2008. They’re made in Australia. Ours are different colours but I like theirs better because they’re different sizes too.

Probably use a credit card and spend with those they trust. Paper money is becoming a thing of the past.

Yeah, it's crazy. But that's the way it is. The US has ugly money, other countries have better designs.
