Seniors Receive Mystery Gift

4 years ago, I had a similar experience. I was in the master bathroom drying off when I saw this paper come sliding under the door. After I finished drying off, I picked up the paper and saw it was a lottery ticket. I was going to toss it in the waste can, but when I came out of the bathroom into the bedroom my wife was standing there, so I asked her “What’s this?”

She told me it’s a lottery ticket. I told her I knew that, but it was all scratched off. She said to read it. She bought a Holiday Lottery ticket just before Christmas. The ticket cost $30. She won $25,000. She buys 1 holiday ticket each year. I think the tickets are now $50, so I don’t know if she will buy one this year or not.

Nice. Does PA tax such a winning? In Canada all gambling wins are tax free, regardless of the amount won. JimB.

They didn’t used to, but they started collecting the tax back about 2016.
