What have you bought recently?

I have a store card and also get employee discount on store brand purchases. Works for me! Besides that, DS and DD both use my store card, which is tied to my employee #. The computer doesn't know that they aren't the employees so they also get the employee discount.

I spent $10 on what's called "Private Selection" cookies. They're $6 (cost to me still $5.40) for a pkg of five. Yup. That's a tad spendy, but they're big and sure are good. They're cookies that I baked myself this morning, and these particular cookies are in a package that gets sealed. They aren't even for me. I got them for DD and DSIL.

Here a 'store card' is a type of credit card which is owned by the store, and which you pay incredible interest on purchases.. something ridiculous...often up to 39%

When we talk about a 'store card in this instance..in the UK... we mean a Loyalty card...
3232.jpg
...and using that card gives the companies everything they need to know about our spending habits, about or demographic etc.... we otoh as. consumers and shoppers... were initially given lower prices on our goods compared to those who chose not to sign up for the scheme.. .. and carrots dangled in way of treats...cheaper holidays, cheaper insurance, cheaper entertainment...

Altho' the majority of shoppers here were users of the loyalty cards , in the last year companies have decided that not enough have taken advantage.. so in an effort to get everyone to disclose their private info... they have artificially inflated prices on every day goods... altho', particualrly in the supermarkets . So instead of a £1.00 loaf of bread.. and using your loyalty card every time you purrchse anything over £1.. you get one point toward your bi-annual vouchers to soned on the aforesaid entertainment.. and those wihtout a loyalty card got to pay the same price for the bread but didn't get any reward... they're instead pricing that same bread at £1.40 on the shelf.. with a glaring yellow sticker, stating the price as £1.00 fr ''Loyalty card holders''..

Naturally non LC card holders are incensed at this blatant rip off... but the only have 2 choices.. either go elsewhere to shop where there's no loyalty ards scheme, but where prices are higher..or sign up...

Yes, I was talking about loyalty cards not credit cards. Hence a member's phone number is sufficient to get the discounts.

First, I dropped off some clothes at my favourite charity shop. Left with a new pair of pants. They were a steal except that I have to hem them so they may just hang forever as a reminder that I got a good buy. I need to find a new seamstress. Driving half a hour to the lady I like is too much. Then I went to a jewellery store to drop off a repair. Next was a big ’miscellaneous’ store. Found 3 pairs of boys socks. They’re probably best saved for winter boots. Finished with a croissant and a highly recommended facial cream exfoliant in a health food store.

Daughter and I had a superb day outing today. It never rained but it was hard cloud ceiling with a refreshing breeze.

We were going to begin our Christmas presents lists. So far, we took the train for our wee jaunt. It was very relaxing and peaceful.

We got quite a few items off of our list. Padded tartan hats for autumn/winter weather. Over the knee boots, we needed new ones. One store on the high street had exactly what we were looking for in our sizes to boot lol. Sorry about the pun.

Daughter's are pulled on with high block heel. Mine are both zipped up and laced up like my ice skates, neat!

We couldn't resist and got half dozen Millie's cookies, Salted Caramel and Triple Chocolate Brownie flavours. Divine!

Stocking stuffers, tartan gloves and scarves to match hats, plus Latte Costa Coffee Keychains: Hot Chocolate aka Mocha Latte (reminding me of husband who was a hot chocolate lover) Daughter's is Gingerbread Latte (reminding her of her brother's who was a ginger).

We had lunch at the Food Court of the central shopping centre.

Overall, a great day!

Food. We went to Aldi. I paid because DD is broke-ish. Holy crap! It's hard to spend much at Aldi, but I parted with $103, including a badly-needed digital meat thermometer. DD has a meat thermometer, but it's the kind you insert and wait for a lifetime to get to the temperature of the meat. At my age, I don't have time to wait. Jussayin'

After receiving the above 9M long sleeve thermal crew neck top and ordering two more, today received another Amazon order I'd placed for $19 a 3-pack in size Men's small of New Balance 90% polyester 10% spandex briefs. Was impressed enough with the smooth silky fit and feel that I just tossed over two dozen old cotton briefs into my garbage bin and then ordered for $38, two more of those 3-packs but with different colors.

I was once at the checkout behind a woman in Aldi who had a trolley full of food ( couldn't believe anyone could fill a trolley in Aldi)... and her bill came to £108... I was ......how on earth did she manage that... there was definitely some stuff in there that I would never eat.. or drink

DD just waltzed over here and handed me $50 for half of yesterday's Aldi total. Yay, DD.

I didn't spend any money today. Would have bought a MegaMillions ticket, but the line at the service desk was 15 people. All at once. That poor clerk!

My new apron arrived from Amazon. Ordered yesterday afternoon, dropped off this morning. That’s the second time I’ve received something that quickly. Not too long ago I bought a similar style. It looked like *ell after the first wash. I couldn’t even make it look descent with a hot iron. Hope this one works out better.

@hollydolly That jumper is called a sweater here. And I absofreakinglutely ❤️ it!!
yep they tend to call mens' jumpers sweaters..here ... whereas womens' are generally called jumpers or woolies . That's a Polo neck ... the ones with the half roll neck are called ''roll necks''... and then Round necks and then V-necks..

It's a really nice thick woolie as well.. and the neck is high which covers my double chin.. :D

I bought these from Amazon. I was so impressed with the design, functionality and quality of the little pouch purse that I ordered two more in black and white. There's even a zipper compartment inside. I wanted navy but they only had this and a lighter blue. I also ordered a set of 4 two sided eyebrow groomers..tiny brush & comb. I use the peppermint oil to make a bath gel (when combined with Dr. Bronners peppermint soap).

I use these bags when I clean the litter box. They contain odor pretty well.

I bought this from downtown today. I have another one, same pattern. I love the colors. I put clean garbage bags inside and use them to bring laundry upstairs.
