They are bad. I had some extracted by one oral surgeon and won't go back to him. It was a horrible experience. So I started going to this clinic which is the only one I could find that took the Medicaid supplement insurance I had. They did x-rays and cleaning two different times with the intent of getting the rest of the top teeth out and getting dentures. Then all of a sudden the day before my appointment with the oral surgeon the office calls and cancels and says he will not extract any teeth from someone seventy or older. That was it. The office didn't know this when I first started going there? When I first went I was not seventy yet.
 

Yesterday was my errand day. Being my son's payee representative, I have to pay his rent (money order and send to his landlord who lives in another city) and get him some cash. He lives for that cash every month! So I have to make sure I can get it. Trouble is his credit union is across the river and not within walking distance of my apartment. Sonny usually picks me up and we do this together and then he takes me grocery shopping.

Yesterday Sonny's new to him car was in the shop. Something the place he bought it from is fixing for him. So I had to do my errands on my own. I drove my mobility chair to the post office (a block away) and got his rent money order and mailed that right then. I also got my own rent money order for my December rent. I always buy mine a month in advance, though I don't pay it until the first of next month. I just like knowing I have it.

The next problem was how to get his cash. The NBT bank is down the street so I went there and searched all over for the ATM machine. The only one they have is in one of the drive up lanes for the cars. I waited until all the cars were gone and drove up to it with Jazzy. It was a $3.75 fee since it is not his bank and I am sure his credit union will charge him something too. But still cheaper than a taxi. The taxis here charge $10. one way.

It was cold, about 35 degrees and a bit windy but the sun was shining. Felt good to me. I love getting out in the fresh air. So I have figured out the way to do this. If it is snowing or raining I will walk using my walker. I will not get my mobility chair wet or drive it in slushy conditions. Don't want it to rust underneath.

Another step toward independence............
 
Katlupe,, hope you can find a dentist to help you with your teeth.

My husband who is 81 recently had a tooth extracted without the hassle you are going through.
Perhaps New York state has different limits for the dentist there?

Can you call the Medicare offices or check online for age restrictions?

I worry about you getting an infected tooth or gum problems.

Today I was out of my apartment a bit. I did laundry and I have been drying it in the dryers lately. It gets my apartment too cold if it is hanging damp in the shower. So using the dryers as long as they don't stink too bad from the fabric softeners or dryer sheets. I got some of the odor from it on my hand and it would not wash off. I finally had to wash my hand with vinegar.

Then I drove Jazzy to the Grand Union to get Rabbit more spring mix and a couple of bananas. I can go days without seeing anyone or talking to anyone but today, I talked to 8 different people! I don't think I ever talk to that many in person. 9 if I could Sonny but he was not in person.

Fixed supper......a taco burger bowl and a breaded pork chop (breaded with crushed pork rinds). Now just checking the computer and having a Zevia gingerale. My friend from school in FL posts videos every day of all the wild critters who come to her yard at night. So I will go watch them otherwise I get behind on them. I don't want her to think no one cares about them. I do because I love wild animals.......except for bears and the bobcat.
 
Today I am feeling pretty good and planning on being productive. I have a lot of little jobs that I keep putting off. Well, today I am challenging myself to do as many as possible. Right after I my breakfast I will get to work on them. Obviously I will not do all of them in one day. There is probably weeks worth of jobs I can do. But instead of getting caught up in watching YouTube videos I am either reading or cleaning. I don't feel like I have wasted my day like I do when watching YouTube or television.
 
I notice how people fight and argue with each other. All the time. If someone is different they want to change them. If you don't do things like they do, then they judge you. If they can't change you to their way, they put you down and talk about you. They say you are different or odd. It doesn't matter if you are in grade school, junior high or a new employee at work......or even a new person in a senior apartment complex.

I don't know that I am different but I have always gone my own way. I like to dream and think. At night before I fall asleep, I will choose one of the homes I have lived in or my grandmother's house. Close my eyes and picture each room and what was in it. Last night I made myself picture my house in FL and how our kitchen was arranged. Each cupboard. Our cupboards were built by my father so not the fancy wood type you see now in every house. Just boards painted white. I wish I had pictures of the inside of all my houses. We didn't do that so much back then. Pictures were of the people.

Today, I only spoke to Sonny and my friend who lives downstairs on the phone. A little bit ago, Jeff, my son was here. We looked at jeans and boots on Amazon for him. Got the jeans but need to keep looking for the boots. He wears a size 15 so hard to find exactly what he wants in that size.
Saturday I saw and talked to 8 people, Sunday only one. Nobody in person today except for Jeff.

Just my thoughts tonight........good-night!
 
Me, Mickey (my brother) and my mother on our way to CA. Took a stop off to see the Rocky Mountains along the way. All I remember was that it was a long drive. No big highways back then. Maybe I was 3 or 4, I know I wasn't going to school yet. Maybe it was 1955. Not sure and no one to ask.

This morning our sun is shining and it was 50 degrees when I got up at six. After my shower I am going to be working on emptying out my cedar chest. My cousin wants it. She can refinish furniture and make it look good again. The inside is perfectly intact with the cedar and labels that were on it when it was brand new long ago (way before I got it). So I am happy about that.

I finished my new book, Nourishing Fats and now am awaiting the companion book to it, Nourishing Broths. It should be here this week sometime. The book was not really new information for anyone who eats the way I do but tells the technical/ scientific truth and why people and doctors were taught the wrong health information. Not news.......profits and government.

I have added fermented foods to my daily foods. It will take time to see any changes but I don't really have digestive issues so my goal is to improve the Lymphedema and Osteoarthritis. Patience I tell myself. Just do it. This week Kimichi is the one I am using. Soon I will teach myself how to make my own fermented foods......the easiest & simplest recipes I can find.

:) I love fermented foods and would just note that 1) they are acidic, and 2) their yeasts can worsen candida.

I am cooking chicken for supper. While I was waiting for it, someone's smoke alarm was going off. It turned out to be the new couple next door. Her husband was cooking chicken and I guess he left to go downstairs for something. Chicken started to burn and his wife got it off the stove but didn't know how to shut off the alarm. Well, I don't know how either. I am paranoid about the smoke alarm so I run the fan above the stove if something I am cooking might set the alarm off.

I am halfway done with cleaning out the cedar chest. Will finish tomorrow. I am going to offer my brother the flag from my father's funeral. I never unfolded it. It is still folded from that day. I figure he will probably put it up on a pole outside his house or something.

I can't give my son anything because he ruins everything. In a very short time too. And he is the only one I have to leave my stuff to. So I am getting rid of it now. Seems crazy to keep stuff your whole life and then have to get rid of it in case you die. I tell myself it is just stuff, it doesn't matter. I look at my dolls and their eyes look horrible and nobody has touched them. Just got that way with age.........like me.

Do you need to get rid of your stuff now? You're so young, @katlupe! Enjoy what you have, as long as you can. Once it is gone, you have it no more. Just a thought.

I think if you wave a towel in front of the alarm it will disperse the smoke and shut off. But maybe that's an old remedy that no longer applies.

I think that works. I keep my fan over my stove on if I am cooking something that may smoke. When I first moved here I set the alarm off a few times. That was it for me. I turn on the fans but I do not cook things that smoke anymore. These people are new here, they will learn.
 
When I sold the big house and moved back to the homestead, I gave away about 75% of my possessions. My home was completely filled with vintage furniture from America's Attic, and I was able to sell every piece but one back to them. Everything else went to my sisters. It feels so odd to walk into their homes and see all "my stuff". I let them divide everything amongst themselves and they were very happy to do that. I looked at it like this, I absolutely could not take it with me, and I was blessed to see it go to family who would get good use from it all. It's funny that the only things I missed were kitchen gadgets, and, truth be told, I bought some of them since (Instapot, bread maker).
 
Since my apartment is so small, I decided I did not want so much furniture. I need room for my walker to get around. There are times when I cannot walk without it. I have found myself not liking the way it looks. My friend downstairs has an efficiency also but her apartment looks twice the size of mine because she doesn't have a lot of stuff. And she even has a freezer!

So I am doing this little by little. Not all at once. It is a lot of work. Right now I am still organizing photos.
