My teacher was the change for me too. Grade 7 and I don’t know what he did but all of a sudden the logic turned on and I enjoyed math from then on.I'll have to try that. I find Math challenging and that's a Good thing. I've always loved it since I once had a great Math teacher. She made us laugh a lot while learning Math. Thanks for the link.
i can do the math but some of the directions' about where the answers go are confusing or maybe it's just me.
You got that right...think who ever invented this might have been nipping at the bottle a bit too much...lol.i can do the math but some of the directions' about where the answers go are confusing or maybe it's just me.
And if you aren't a good player, your wallet might even be a bit thinner after a session or two.The Brain is much like a muscle....in that If You Don't Use It, You Lose It. Anything that makes a person think is good. Personally, I like to play poker.....the hundreds of mathematical possibilities in an average hand, compared to the possible combinations the other players might have, is a Huge exercise for the brain.
It’s hard for me to say “ oldpeculier “ to anyone who plays chess, it’s the best strategy game there is, I’m with you, I play chess on my IPad, using 4 different apps from the App Store, even in 3-D, just like you are playing a game across the table.I've enjoyed playing chess since being introduced to the game in my teens. I play two or three games most days against the computer. Still just a average player and loose more often than win. I like cranking the difficulty up to be challenged and get better. Nothing against math, it's great to exercise your brain, just prefer chess.
Are these games all on line, do you play them on a device? I love my IPad, I’m addicted to that. The games I play stimulate my brain in different ways.
Words With Friends takes strategy. I learn new words and their definitions during many of my games. I win about 80% of the time.
Cody Cross brings to mind facts and knowledge in different categories, some of which I forgot I had stored in my brain.
Mahjong Fantasy since it is timed, requires sharp eyes and reflexes to complete in a reasonable amount of time.
Cross Math tests math skills as well as deductive reasoning.
I try to play at least two or three of them daily; I love Cody Cross but I'm addicted to WWF.
I play the games I mentioned above on my phone, which is Android. I do prefer to play other games on my tablet. You should be able to download them on your iPad from the App Store. Do a search for games. I have a Mac and didn't see those games in the App Store, but your iPad may offer more selections. If not, there are similar games. For instance, I didn't see WWF but I saw Scrabble. Are these games all on line, do you play them on a device? I love my IPad, I’m addicted to that.![]()
I read or heard somewhere that the key to keeping your brain healthy is learning .... anything. Take up a new hobby, decide to study out a new issue, just learning for the sake of creating new pathways for your brain to operate.Thank you for the link. I used to love what was available on the Khan academy app but then it seemed they wanted people to pay. I will try the brain exercises. I also been adding numbers in my head for the past several months...not all numbers and not all the time. My granddaughter is a math wizard. I'll update later after I take the time to do the Khan thing.
Absolutely. Plus, it's fun!I read or heard somewhere that the key to keeping your brain healthy is learning .... anything. Take up a new hobby, decide to study out a new issue, just learning for the sake of creating new pathways for your brain to operate.
What addictive game is that, Lavinia? I absolutely love all sorts of word games!I'm hopeless with numbers...so I prefer word puzzles. I've discovered a game on google and it's so addictive....can't stop playing it!
Google it.How to you convert centimeter to meter?
I used to read voraciously before my babies came along but nowadays it makes me want to nod off so fast! I have to read it online and I think the light from the screen overcomes the melatonin in my system, that develops at the sight of a printed page. Which is too bad because books have so much nicer a feel.Only one way for me ... read, read and read some more!
I couldn't agree more, @Debrah N. Trouble is, my vision is so bad that my beloved paperbacks are no longer legible to me. Since I usually read on my side, reading glasses are no good to me! This make my tablets perfect now for reading since I can adjust the size of the font. If you have a Kindle or Samsung tablet (my preference) you can choose something other than white for your page. I usually choose brown for my eyes, it's easier on the eye than white.I used to read voraciously before my babies came along but nowadays it makes me want to nod off so fast!
