Going gray - recommendations?

Hello all, I've finally gone more than 40% gray and rather than cover it, I'd rather get it over with and just go gray. If there are any DIY people here, I'd love recommendations on brands and shade. My hair is level 5 naturally, and neutral to ash in tone. I was thinking doing a steel gray with silver and white highlights.

I looked at reviews for some brands and the results were too varied for me to figure out which would work. So if anyone does their own hair and can recommend products, I'd be grateful.

Cheers!

I can only explain what my wife did as her hair began to gray. The beautician she goes to suggested a hair style that would compliment the change. It worked out well & now her hair is a solid silver color that with bangs always looks fantastic.

Me I don't notice any gray

Keep the gray hair, own it and rock it.
Some can carry off the grey haired look, beautifully, well done to them. For many years my appearance was far more hirsute. There is a mole that's prominent on the right side of my face. Back in my twenties, as a young man attending an insurance medical examination, I asked the doctor about having it removed. He explained that with removal there's a chance of cancer cells developing, so I grew a beard. The beard was there for almost forty years, then the the wisps of grey hair appeared, off came the beard, I would rather have the mole.

Here is the beard, the little friend with me is Rosie.

I let all my color grow out and am sticking with my natural gray and a little white. I am done coloring, less money spent and less upkeep. All natural, I say.

I had my hair highlighted for a while before going completely gray....before that I colored my hair for many years....reddish brown.

I would bet that you are beautiful just as you are. Women tend to be very critical of themselves. To me they are always beautiful just as they are. Their look varies, yes. But, the variance I find intriguingly interesting and fascinating.

There is a cute little old lady going out for walks in the neighborhood these days. Her hair is so stark white that if I were even more awkward I might ask her if that is a wig.

When I'm out battling the fallen leaves she seems to circle round the block a few times. Each time she pauses to say a few words. Last time she said she loves to hear the leaves crunching under her shoes. I said that I have to clean them up, and she replied "Oh, darn it!"

Is this what passes for flirting as we age?

Having been a dirty blonde all my life, the advent of grey was gradual and not so noticeable. I'm not grey all over, but there are areas, such as the front, where I've got a grey streak. Honestly, hair isn't something I'm too bothered about (I've had a center parting for more then 50 years because........ the 1970's. So I'm just going to rock the grey.

I just let mine turn grey naturally. After trying to drastically change my hair colour to silver during the Pandemic lockdowns and paying the price if burnt hair, I'm letting nature take its own course.

For the ones who can or want to get hair salon specialists help, have a look at these recommendations...
