Are you bar of soap person or a fru-fru body wash person?

I was a bar of soap person for decades. But, now, I have abandoned the ways of my ancestors, and use a body wash. Of course, you have to take baby steps into the unknown. My body wash is unscented.

I used to use bar soap. Then I went to body wash. I have since upgraded to 3 in 1 body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Saves me money and not so many bottles in the shower.

Bar soap that I make for myself at home. It's a basic 3 oil formula: Olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, household lye, distilled water and lavender essential oil for fragrance. I don't use pigments anymore so it's a white soap. I make a 5 lb. batch that yields 16 bars and that lasts me, I don't know.....maybe a year.

Bar of soap all the way. And I'm not talking expensive stuff. I think I tried body wash once and it felt like shampooing my entire body. Nah.

I use Body wash in the shower... but I use quite expensive bar soap in the bathroom sink, it's a frippery really to pay for the bar soap.. and I don't use it all the time, but its such high quality soap, and so beautifully scented, I enjoy using it...

Downstairs in the kitchen sink I use Dispenser soap.. but again high quality...

This made me smile, it's so girlie. I haven't seen girlie in quite some time. Mind you, I'd be afraid to use that soap, it's more like an ornament!

I use plain old white Dial most of the time. My skin has become more sensitive as I age and having well water does not help. The Dial is antibacterial which makes me feel better about the well water. I can't use fragrance in soap.

Bar soap. Since I stopped using palm oil, I buy it mostly from Etsy. It's hard to find in the stores. Kiss My Face olive oil (made in Greece) is palm free and I found Antioche Lateau brand at the Grocery Outlet (made in Turkey) I also now use shampoo bars instead of bottled shampoo.

Bar of soap for my face. Bodywash for the rest of me, I don’t care if it smells like a perfume factory as long as it is cheap. After all it’s used once and then goes down the drain. Also, I use cheapest shampoo I can find for the little hair I have left. Again, use it once and then down the drain.

I am more picky regarding toothpaste and mouthwash. Since those affect my health and usually a little bit goes into my digestive system.

I use body wash. “Dial Spring Water.” My wife says the bathroom always smells so good when I shower, which is usually twice a day. She uses Dove. I also use a wash cloth and not one of those scratchy things you see hanging off the shelves of grocery stores.

Once I bought a package of those charcoal black bars. They were getting rave reviews at the time. Even sitting on a sponge, they tended to build up a mucky mess.

My grandmother's mother (great grandmother) made her own as well. That was the later half of the 19th century. She lived in a small rural town. In those days women's work was really work and 'homemaker' really made a home. My grandmother did much as she. Food on the table each day was taken from its 'natural' state and made edible. Killed the chicken, gutted it, plucked it, roasted it. Dug up the vegetables; washed and cut them, then cooked them. Wash day was a real wash day and all day, too. I really respect women for all they did to make a family a family. But, I wonder if little girls today have any clue.

Main soap is Kirk's fragrance-free Castile bar soap & I'll use Grandpa's Pine Tar soap in winter for itchy skin.

During the summer after I've been working in the yard, I'll wash off my hands & arms with dish soap since we have so much poison ivy all over. It helps wash the plant oil off of your skin & it has worked well for me over the years.

goodness do they still sell that ?... I remember that when I was a child..loved the little inset Label in the soap, does it still have that ?

:D

That's the perfect response. You're right, it's something I've used in forever. They even have two sized bars, one what I'll call normal sized, and one over-sized that is usually too big for comfortable use by a woman. I'm not saying it's a good soap, I literally have no idea. It's probably very very ordinary. But my choice is totally 1970.

As for the paper label - yes, it's still there. Don't forget, it serves a purpose. Once it's been used, the paper label becomes prominent. So when you use it and then put it in the dish, you place it label down to help prevent the dish getting dirty. ;)

Mind, I guess next time I'm buying, I'm going to see if I can widen my horizons. I'd love something with perfume, so I'll see what comes up.

What was that green soap from back in the day? Something about Ireland, maybe? Man, that stank. :D

I’m a bar soap dude for life. I tried “body wash,” but never knew how much to use…was I using too much, or too little?! Just rubbing a bar of soap all over me removes the onus of that decision…

Ever been gifted “soap on a rope?” If His Holiness used it, would it then be the Pope’s soap on a rope? Wouldn’t that be a great brand name?- - Wait, it’s already been done. Do I use “Pope on a rope soap?”- -Nope.

And always remember…the family that sticks together, needs to bathe more often! You’ll be blessed if you do… 🙏 😸

I like the organic soaps containing essential oils and things like geranium, lavendar, wild rose etc but, I also like Wrights Coal Tar soap which is cheap, has a lovely clean smell and contains natural oils (it's vegan friendly too). I am one of those people who scour the New Year sales for discounted hair, skin, bath, shower products which would normally cost a lot more. :)
