Are you bar of soap person or a fru-fru body wash person?

A bit of a tangent, I suppose... But around here people have been trying Irish Spring soap to repel skunks and raccoons from their gardens. It's one of those "I heard it through the grapevine" ideas. The method is cutting bars into, say, 2x2-inch pieces and lashing these onto the top of short stakes, scattered around in an area where the animal is known to have been disturbing the soil.
My wife uses Irish Spring ... around her holly plants. A half bar tucked in around the base of each plant. Since she started that, the deer haven't munched on the hollies at all.

There is a large nursery in our area that uses Irish Spring to repel deer from eating their nursery stock. I've not tried it yet, but I'm tempted with the deer walking through the garden & groundhogs eating my green beans.

Remember Ivory soap? It advertised as 99.44% pure, but they never said pure what. I used it in college as it was cheap. The soap is so light that it floats, and I remember my father teaching me some carving fundamentals using a bar of Ivory.

I once was gifted a bar of goat soap, which I presume was made using goat milk. I almost threw it away, but then tried it and liked it! It was a one-time event, however, owing to cost and availability…
