For those of you living alone, do you sometimes get distracted easily?

I find sometimes I get distracted and doze off in the middle of doing things like watching tv. Sometimes if I'm on the internet when I'm cooking I get distracted enough to forget about my food on the stove.

Or I'll be doing one thing and get distracted in the middle of it by something else and then I'm doing two projects at once.

Sing I had ADD (really) I've always been easily distracted. My honorary daughter still sometimes teases me. Once we were eating at a diner at night. It must've been Christmas time. Right in the middle of our conversation, I looked out and said "Oooohhh...pretty lights!" Like you, I'll get distracted in the middle of something and go on to do something else because of it. Sometimes it's frustrating.

Very frustrating. One night I was cooking dinner and was online and forgot about dinner and cooked the dinner down to black and the pan began melting to the burner before I caught it.

I have to admit that sometimes I get briefly distracted and then "What the heck was I just going to do?" Then I have to backtrack and retrace my steps. Most of the time that works.

I've always been someone who can multi-task and keep my eye on every ball in the air simultaneously ... but just to be on the safe side now.. if like your example..I am cooking.. and getting involved in something else.. then I set my alexa alarm for the end of the cooking time

yes i hafta have my timer right next to me so i'm more alert. if it's going off in the kitchen there's too much of a risk i'll ignore it.

I have 3 ..one in the living room..one in the kitchen and one up here in the office room...so I can set one wherever I'm going to be... but you could set one on your phone.and keep your phone on you

With me distraction is most pronounced when it comes to streaming. There are so many choices. I start watching a series, am enjoying it and then forget because I come across another series I like ... and so on and so on. There must be at least ten shows by now that I really liked and then forgot in the meantime until I run across them again by accident!

Same here!

No, I can't say I get distracted. Most times I just decide to do something else in the middle of doing something else. As for cooking, I always sit here at my computer where I can see the whole kitchen if anything is cooking. If I have to leave the chair or my apartment for any reason I unplug whatever is cooking. I think writing everything I plan on doing for the day keeps me on track.

Keep a written list. Jimb.

Oh yeah....I get distracted a lot, mostly by YouTube..also I'm notorious for leaving the water hose running outside during the hot summertime.

I do sometimes but not nearly as much as the years when I had 3 kids, a husband, a big house, a job, sometimes two jobs, pets and everyone’s schedule to monitor. That was distraction!

I don't think living alone causes distraction at all, if anything you should have less distractions.

Now being retired and living a more relaxed life can lead to distraction simply by not having to be so task focused about everything. I have plenty of time tomorrow to do what I forgot to do today.🤪
