Noises when getting into bed???

You sure those sounds aren't coming from you? I've been woken up by strange noises, but every time I've said "What the hell was that? Did you hear it?" my wife said, "Yes, you were snoring."
I wouldn't want to meet my stomach in a dark alley. It growls, gurgles and sloshes. I guess it's so quiet, here; that any noise is noticeable. And I'm aware of them only when I'm trying to go to sleep.

This sounds like my stomach when I'm trying to sleep. The only thing that will shut it up is if I lay on my side. But, there have been times when my husband has told me to "turn over on your side". I've responded with, "I am on my side" and I was.

All I know is I can't sleep without the TV on.
When I was first married, and left a big bustling noisy household, I couldn't sleep because of the quiet in my new house... My husband was at sea with the Royal Navy...so to be able to sleep I had to have the TV on all night. I hadn't realised that Id got so used to sleeping through noise, I couldn't sleep when it was quiet.

Took me a good while to get out of that habit.. but what made me get out of it was when my TV burst into flames one day.. fortunately not when I was asleep.. but it taught me never to go to sleep with the TV on ever again..

It is not what you are hearing that is the problem it is what your imagination is thinking about those noises. Get control of your thoughts and the sounds will go away...

Just squirrels settling down inside your walls.
We actually had squirrels in the attic of a 100 year old house we bought to refurb
Set up a live trap with peanut butter for bait
Next morning we had a squirrel
With peanut butter smeared all over his face
Took him to the park a few blocks away
He beat us home
Next trip was to a park 5 miles away
Trapped three squirrels in the attic

I had that issue last night. I always set the TV to turn off in 60 minutes and the TV helps me get to sleep but, I had a bad cold all week, and decided to just turn the TV off last night when I got into bed and then I heard this odd little ticking noise.
I was too tired to see what it could be but now I realize it came from a battery operated clock. I just never heard it tick before.

Where I live ,all of my clocks re battery operated except for one- we get power outages in bad weather, so at least I can determine what time it is. I use an electric police/EMS/Fire scanner too that switches to battery, when power goes off and I have surge protectors on Everything important. And plenty of flashlights.

I can often determine where the outage is coming from with the scanner and it is usually from trees falling on the electric lines.

I solved my mice problem years ago- Dry goods go into heavy plastic containers, and I have 4 battery operated blinker lights that also give out a high pitch sound-that mice can hear. I also use peppermint spray on the floor boards and when the weather changes, in early October ,I put out Tom Cat pellets, around the house, that kill rodents. I checked them the other day and no one has nibbled on them at all. I hate to use the pellets but a few people know are overwhelmed with mice problems.

Living in a rural farm community sure has it's own unique problems. But it is peaceful and beautiful.

I lived in the country. I liked the noises at night, the animals, even the insects. Found it soothing, restful.
Me too
With the exception of Mr Bear, when he would lumber across the porch at 3AM...heading for the garbage cans

One squirrel would skitter across the metal roof at 7 every morning
He'd go from limb to limb
Hit the roof
Skitter to the next tree

Didn't have to even look at the clock
Knew it was 7AM when hearing his feet clanking across the metal roof

'Course he'd hit the bird feeder

I like certain outside sounds but anything that sounds like someone breaking in shakes me up a bit. When this happens I just robotically affirm everything is ok, I am safe, until I fall asleep and so far this has worked out. ;)

I've been running a white noise CD at night for years now. I don't want to sleep without it. It's a very low pitch, supposed to be like a AC unit blowing. It muffles noises. When I worked PM shift the gardeners and garbage truck noise still got through.

What I found is that those silly ASMR videos work for me. Not just any of them, some are full of annoying noises and may as well be rolling a bag of tin cans down flights of stairs.

Often I can finish one in the 20 to 25 minute range, turn it off, and just close my eyes and sleep. But it isn't that rare to just nod right off and after it completes eventually the TV screen saver kicks on, which startles me awake enough to shut it off. Even if it doesn't it will turn itself off in another 10 minutes anyway, so there is no stress there.

I can't sleep without white noise. I have a fan and an air cleaner, both set on High, and I wear earplugs. I hear no external noises. The only noise that wakes me up is our lawn guy blasting his leaf blower outside my window.

When we travel I wear my AirPods to bed with my phone set on White Noise.
