Well I followed all the instructions online to reset the Ring doorbell.... it still wouldn't work... so I factory reset it, then it wouldn't accept my password on the app, so I had to renew the password.. and then when I went to sign in using the new password.. it won't accept it... so I give up...:rolleyes:

It's on these occasions I miss my husband, he would have had that figured out in minutes

I sure can relate to That Hollydolly!
For me it is those pickle jars and other things I have problems opening.
I got one of these... to open the jars and bottles.. it has several sizes so it fits most jars and bottles

Not sure yet here. Woke up to 25 F (-4 C) but the sun did come up in clear skies. If it warms up I have one list to work on, otherwise I'll do something else today.

When old Sol did peek above the horizon he sure seemed to do it quite far South for this early in the season.

I guess I can forget about the option of a string of solar Christmas lights. December is usually quite overcast here anyway.

My wife was a hairdresser for all of her adult life and loved it. She kept doing it for free to the ladies of the congregations after she retired! I always enjoyed the atmosphere of the beauty salons because everybody always seemed to be in such an exuberant mood. They and their customers were like one big family.

The only thing that bothered me was the pathetic tips they received in her day. Either the clients didn't give a tip at all or they rounded up to the nearest dollar, which amounted to a quarter most of the time. It never bothered my wife, though. To her it was a labour of love.

Thank God times have changed that way. I have a hairdresser as a "barber" now and leave her outrageous tips. At first she looked at me as if I were crazy but accepts it now, since I told her it was in memory of my wife!
I always tip generously, as it must be difficult at times dealing with some customers (I've witnessed it), not to mention being on one's feet all day.

That jar opening is much larger than the one I have- I will check it out at amazon-

At 7:30 AM I heard 4 gun shots in the valley below me- it is hunting season here.
Later today I might get a take out meal but it is very cold out and maybe I will just stay home.

I sure have noticed the older I get, that cold weather bothers me more than it used to.
shop around... because amazon has them at one price.. and other places online have them at a different price.. you can get one for very little money..

Another sleepless night. Had my eggs and coffee, catching up on email & forum. Going to the library later to browse the shelves. Our entire library system was hacked a few weeks ago, and it hasn't been resolved. My other option is to read off a tablet, which I don't like .. so, off to the library I will go!

Have a good day, everyone :)
Oh, I am so nostalgic for the old-fashioned libraries. The ones where the atmosphere was hushed ... and no computers. Just racks and racks of books and helpful librarians. I always felt it was the closest thing to heaven since I loved reading! Now I don't get out of the house, couldn't read most of the books without reading glasses and am completely dependent on tablets for my daily reading. I had a hard time getting used to them but now I like them because they allow me to adjust the font so I don't need glasses when I read in bed.

And I sympathize re. sleepless night. I had another one only yesterday! Or I should say, about four hours, interrupted three times! My hours of sleep are all over the place, from being a temporary night owl to waking at five thirty in the morning after a lot of tossing and turning!

same here..I could have written this... I grieve for the old libraries which were my haven...

Today libraries are noisy, lacking in books.. and far from the comfortable quiet solitude they once offered..

It's Saturday, so watching College football starting at noon for the Michigan game. Buckeyes play at 4. May or may not make it to the night game.

I can't understand how anyone can kill a deer! What a hypocrite I am, since I love venison! That goes for all meat! I couldn't live without it! If only I had been born a vegetarian!

And I am in the same boat @Widow of Vietnam Vet, cold bothers me more now as well. Our blood thins and at the moment I am quite content to live in an apartment that seems to clock at a steady 77 degrees Fahrenheit. (25 degrees Celsius) Every time I have company I have to turn on a fan for those who are younger than I! :D

Help!!! I can never find the "degrees" sign on my computer. Where is it located. Sincerely yours, dummy!

No, you're not the dummy, in case there's a misunderstanding! I am!!! :D

let's hope your country never finds itself in the position that the UK is in now where we can barely afford to have heating on for more than an hour a day :(

I am sorry about your shaky hands, @Pepper but at the same time happy to have company. I developed shaky hands only recently and it really bugs me, especially when I have to transport my morning coffee from the kitchen to the "computer" room, also known as my small extra bedroom!
I've been drinking my coffee standing up, right near the coffee machine! or else the coffee is sloshed on the floor!

I feel sorry for the home owners and apartment dwellers who have to pay for furnace oil in our neck of the woods as well. The prices are outrageous, HD!

I am very fortunate since I have a landlord who pays for all the utilities except for electricity and that comes to CA $65.00 a month. As I wrote in another post, in an age of outrageous rent increases, mine has gone up by CA $25.00 a month over the past three years. My landlord deserves sainthood! I just keep my fingers crossed that I won't get a letter tomorrow that turns my saint into a villain!

Well I was getting together some papers to send to hospital,
then seems I need a new bank statement, so found it online at
the bank and went to print it out......ooooppps. printer not working again, damnit. i have only maybe printed 100 sheets thru this printer and here it is crapped out again....I think maybe the dang cartridges are gunky, so I ordered new ink from amazon, will be here tomorrow....grrrrrrrrr
I too, find it very frustrating and disconcerting, indeed, that nearly every task which at the outset, seems like it should not be lengthy, complex, difficult or time-consuming;
each one almost always, and very quickly, becomes a long task with numerous steps which will take multiple days to complete...
(and each of those steps could likewise turn into multiple ones, too:rolleyes:)

It's a good thing you didn't have me as a husband, HD. I am ashamed to say it but YOU would have had to show ME! :D

Today, I am enjoying a break from my difficulties, by reading some of all the posts, here on this thread.:)
Whew...I need the break!!!!! :oops::eek::rolleyes:

(as I realize that many of the rest of you, do as well.:D)

That is frustrating, about your doorbell, @hollydolly
Many tasks turn out, that way, even with all the ingenuity and creativity and abilities, that you apply in attempt to solve each one.

That opener you pictured, Holly, seems good. I'll try to get one. I do have one of a different sort, with a bulky handle that turns, while it adjusts the size of the the part that grips the lid. I need it, and it might help you too, @Widow of Vietnam Vet

@RadishRose
That's quite a situation there, with both of the alarming parts; the animals, and with the notices!

What a wonderful idea, HD. What's its official name? I usually put my jars under hot water around the lid for a moment, that helps in some cases, or hammer the top of the lid in the case of new bottled items, but I am afraid my daughter has to open quite a few things for me these days! The strength in my hands has gone!

Cr@p on a cracker. My laptop locked up, and I can't remember how DSIL told me to unlock when that happens. Grr. So I'm using the tablet.

It's warm and sunny. I like warm and sunny.

Started a load of laundry.

Sir scheduled me to work the last hour of my shift on my birthday with HER. I groused about it and asked if I could just leave an hour early that day. Yes. Yay.

Annnnd...just figured out how to unlock laptop. Woohoo.

Made a huge pot of tomato bean soup this morning. In the afternoon went DT. Dropped some donations off and picked up my favourite earrings which I had repaired. That was less expensive than buying new ones. Walked past a thrift shop and a coat in the window caught my eye. It’s late in the season to wear it but I wanted it. It’s not a practical purchase.

Walking tonight encountered a buck and doe. Since they took the road we wanted, we deviated from our planned route. No point seeing if he was disturbed by our presence.
So nice to hear about the deer you saw.:)
Decades ago, I took photos of one, that I encountered on a walk in the woods. Or did she encounter me?😊
Well, she didn't take any photo.☺️
It was a motionless stare-down, at each other, for some wondrous moments, long remembered.

What type of beans do you use in the soup? I love what beans add to a home-made soup. Winter squash also adds a lot.
