Anybody know about this "Temu' thing?

in fact particualrly with clothing and footwear its often very poor and not how it looks online...but again they have no issues with you requesting a return and refund...
Would you say I did the right thing with ordering two sizes up as the reviews suggested, Holly? When things run small, it's usually suggested to go up just one size... so I hope it's not too large for me. @hollydolly

I would definitely order 2 sizes up...this is an Asian site so their clothing even the 'large' tends to be smaller than we're used to...

I have had 2 things from Temu..clothing.. which have been really good..but on the whole the quality of the clothing is poor... and I wouldn't order from them again for that...

HollyDolly & my wife's buying experiences have been positive.

I noticed other posters are referring to "What They Heard".

Two actual experiences and this summation from your post.

Is Temu a good company to buy from?
Online shopping can be a gamble. Fake reviews are littered across American retailers, such as Amazon and Walmart, which damage consumers' trust in online stores.

Only by actual experience rather than accepting "What They Heard" as being valid might be worthwhile.

But to each their own when it comes to parting with money.

I’ve purchased quite a few items from then and NEVER had a issue with the quality or the service, I always pay with pay pal and always received the goods 3 - 6 days after ordering , so I trust them I’ve prob bought items a dozen times and wouldn’t hesitate to order again .
Our neighbour has bought allot of items including shoes and he’s fussy and he has always praised the quality of the items of his purchases.
I've never ordered clothing and it’s free postage on top of very reasonable priced items
When I first started buying they sent orders in orange packs now they are white .

if anyone has concerns about buying Google TEMU reviews

Oh Mr. Fuzzy, I have a 🦴 to pick with you! I went to check the place out. Free shipping today.... uh oh. Beautiful sweater pops on screen... double uh oh. Asian sizing.... order two sizes up... okay, I can do that. Bottom line, my sweater will be here before the end of the month. :sneaky:

Now... gotta say I would never *ever* give a credit card number to a place like that. I used my junk mailbox.... and I had $16 left on a Visa gift card... my sweater was $13. Went through just fine.... happy camper here, so I'll take that bone back, I guess. :) @fuzzybuddy
I use my credit card.. unlike a debit card you get protection when using your CC card

The complaint that things are made in China … what isn’t made in China nowadays?
that's very true.. and like in my Phone case example, good quality, same manufacturers, yet vastly different price between Temu and Amazon...but I have had several things which were nothing like advertised, which has never happened with Amazon.. so you do have to be careful..

I discovered Temu a few months ago (advertised on the SF site!) after I accidentally clicked on it. When I saw the cheap prices, I was hooked. I made a small purchase at first, was satisfied and and have been shopping regularly since then (I try not to buy more than 25 dollars at a time. I get a lot for that amount!). The prices are extremely competitive, and shipping is free. I also noticed that several packages came from New York and New Jersey. It doesn't take that long to get here.

I usually get art supplies (paints, brushes, watercolor paper), supplies for card making (patterned paper, stamps, double-sided tape, flower stickers, etc), flashlights, tape, insulating tape, etc. These are a fraction of the cost of Amazon. I have been pleased 95% of the time. I did not do well with the few tops I ordered. They were not sized properly or made of cheap material. So I don't shop clothing, but I have been pleased with everything else.

I bought a couple of things from them and they were as advertised. However I will not download their app. They really want me to and keep offering 100% discount on an item if I will download the app. I read that by giving such good deals mostly young people praise them on social media and their popularity spreads like wildfire. Kind of like free advertising. I am wary concerning the data collection.

I'm the same I keep my purchases low generally under £25.. when I started I needed to spend a minimum of £20 to get free delivery.. then the more I bought the more the initial purchase went down..now I only have to spend £5..00

Incidentally their head office is in Boston USA

I just did some research on this company. It is based in Dublin, Ireland and the owner has a very interesting background. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Computer science. His parents in China were middle class factory workers. His parent company is based in Shanghai and he's also a philanthropist. I'll leave it to you to look the company up.

My son has clients in Shanghai and they are honorable and extremely well educated people. No commies there.

TEMU sounds inviting by the comments here. Last year tried a site known as Wish. Junk. Could return the order but, to do so cost me more than the cost of the item. So never returned it. Gimmicky. I'll stick to Amazon or Ebay. No worries then. Always best to use PayPal. They will fight for you on even Amazon or Ebay.

Not sure why you singled me out but whatever. I felt like he had just as much right to know what might happen as well as everyone else's experiences because there's two sides to every coin. And you're right...to each their own when it comes to spending. Some people like to be more cautious.

I noticed that when I went shopping online for a red sweater, I got the usual amazon.com ads, but right next to them were Temu ads. And outside of the Better Business problems, the negative comments about Temu came from individuals, who claimed that Temu was a scam to get personal info. I don't know what to believe- and to me, that's reeks of being a disinformation attempt.

It's definitely not a scam, it's a legitimate business and it's giving Amazon..Shein, etc a heck of a run for their money..

ETA..I should have said ''businesses'' because of course it's not one business.. its hundreds of businesses the same as Amazon..but under the one ''Temu'' umbrella

I don't know what to say about this... when I ordered yesterday, I used a few dollars that were left on a Visa gift card, so they sure didn't get a credit or debit number. (I do all of my online shopping with gift cards for security.) I needed an email to register, but used a junk email address where I get ad mail and trash. Of course I had to give my name and address, but that's all they got. Not sure what data these people think is being mined.

When shopping online my first go to site is Google Shopping. This site pulls in all the products offered on many sites, including Amazon & Ebay where I usually buy. I've never seen any item offered on Google Shopping from TEMU. I wonder why. Maybe that this the splitter between whether it is a good site or a bad site. If Google Shopping won't display merchandise offered by TEMU it may be for a reason.

I posted a warning a few days ago on my "Christmas of 2023" thread regarding TEMU:

"Always check reviews when buying online...especially in today's world.
...I suggest you be cautious when buying anything sold by TEMU
(returns are impossible, most items don't arrive say reviews from the BBB)"
Thanks for the warning Lara. I haven't bought anything from that site, but I've been online shopping for a gift the past couple of days, and that website comes up. It did seem really cheap, I'm looking for a more quality item though. Hard to keep up with all the scammers these days, any info welcome. (y)

It was about the web site article you posted. IMO the article didn't really answer what it was about. Several others have & I posted positive 1st. hand experiences., and offered insight into quality, delivery & return.
Caution is always best when it comes to parting with hard earned money.

returns are not impossible..at all.. what nonsense..take no notice of anyone who says they are .

I've returned many things with complete ease. They refund your money within seconds sometimes.. if they feel that the item is not worth a return...and suggest you donate or throw away the item..never one problem getting refunded..ever !
