How many times do you wake up at night?

Youngster's thread about lucid dreaming got me thinking about sleep. When I was younger, I slept 6 hours right through, and that was enough sleep for me. Today I sleep about 8 hours and I wake up at least twice-(BR break). Last night I woke up every hour, and was wide awake from 3AM-4 AM, when I got up and watched tv till I felt sleepy. AHH!

 Sad subject for me. It's been a lot of years since I've had a good sleep. Usually 4 hours and it's wearing me down faster than it used to. If I actually sleep until 3 a.m. it's like a miracle and that makes me so happy. Most nights though, I'm wide awake by 2:00-2:30 and can't get back to sleep. It's like that no matter how early or late I go to bed. 🥱

I can relate .. unfortunately. Trying to have a nap generally doesn't work. I'm tired of feeling tired all the time!

Yes I'm always tired like you Pinks... simply because I don't get enough sleep at night. I get up about every hour and a half for the loo after I fall asleep, and because my sleep is disturbed, I'm not on form during the day...

I'm sleeping better now but it is rare for me to go any longer than you before skipping to the loo again. With my current sleep meds (Trazadone and Magnesium supplements) it is rare hat I get less than 7 hours sleep total but I'll often take a reading break midway. My CPAP machine tells me how many hours I had the mask on each night which is a pretty good indication of the amount of sleep.

why do you wear a CPAP machine ? ..my ex husband has to wear one at night.. it's the only time he can breathe normally..he has COPD

I scrolled through my fitbit app sleep results, and it looks like on average I get up three times a night to go to the bathroom, and then have about 8 other times that I briefly awake then fall back asleep. I'd love it if I could get a good 8 hrs a night, but with all the waking up my actual sleep time is around 7 hrs.

Lately I've been sleeping better, I think maybe because the weather is colder so I can open the window and chill the room, I sleep better when the room is colder (as long as I'm snuggled in the blankets).

I wake up every two hours, and it's been like that as long as I can remember.

It used to be very stressful for me because many times I couldn't fall back to sleep, sometimes not for several hours. Now that I'm retired and living a mostly stress free life I'm usually able to fall back asleep after a few minutes, and if not I can simply lay there and relax.

Yes, Since I retired I sleep pretty well. I do get up at least one time a night. Usually I go right back to sleep.
If I can't I listen to the radio very low. Usually Coast to Coast radio to see what all the demons, aliens, and ghosts are doing.😊

I do that sometimes. I go way back to the Art Bell days. It was much better back then.

I am up at around 2am for the bathroom! Up for about an hour. I make some oatmeal with dark cherries and walnuts and chia or else I will get hungry. Cherries and walnuts have melatonin. I do some bible study, play solitaire, and some prayer. Take valerian root and a melatonin tablet, go to the bathroom again and than back to bed in my dark cool sleeping room and I usually fall back asleep in a half hour or so.

A second pillow on my stomach seems to help me fall back asleep, odd as that sounds.
