High rent and Homelessness

I don't think so. I think someone's trying to smear him. Here's a post where he says X Corp will be donating to to hospitals in Israel and the Red Cross/Crescent in Gaza.

X Corp will be donating all revenue from advertising & subscriptions associated with the war in Gaza to hospitals in Israel and the Red Cross/Crescent in Gaza

An excellent example of what I said in post #73.

Devi, I don't know if he is or isn't an anti-Semite, but growing his wealth and staying in business is the motive behind everything Musk says and does, regardless. I'm sure he feels good about donating generously to good causes, but I'm positive he considers how this or that cause will effect his wealth and businesses before he donates. And if he makes a mistake, he finds a way to fix it, such as donating equally to an opposing cause, which he can afford to do.

also in that video..they say Musk and T rump are exactly the same in that neither of them think any rules were made for them

There was a journalist who used to hound slum lords. I don't remember....Geraldo Rivera, maybe?

And there was a movie in the 70s about a slum lord who was forced by a New York judge to live in his own slum apartment building...that was his sentence. Joe Pesci played the slum lord.

But see my comment just below.
whatever happened to Geraldo..? we used to watch his show over here in the 90's

He publicly embarrassed himself, first by digging up a gigantic hole in the dirt on live TV to find Jimmy Hoffa's body but just found an empty, crushed can of Pepsi instead, and second, when everyone found out he slept with a New York Senator's wife and he was married at the time, although the infidelity wasn't as big a deal as the identity of his long-time mistress.

wow..who was his mistress ?

Marian Javits, wife of New York Senator Jacob Javits back in the 80s. I think she's now Rivera's wife.
I just looked it up... he's married to..

Erica Michelle Levy

Got this from Wiki

Rivera has been married five times:

  1. Linda Coblentz (1965–1969, divorced)
  2. Edith Vonnegut (December 14, 1971 – 1975, divorced)
  3. Sherryl Raymond (December 31, 1976 – 1984, divorced)
son: Gabriel Miguel (born July 1979)[65][66]
  4. C.C. (Cynthia Cruickshank) Dyer (July 11, 1987 – 2000, divorced)
children: daughter Isabella Holmes (born 1992)[67] daughter Simone Cruickshank (born 1994). Six other attempts at having children through IVF ended in miscarriage
  5. Erica Michelle Levy (since August 2003)
    one daughter[68]

Rivera has admitted to having a multi-year affair with Marian Javits, wife of New York Senator Jacob Javits, until 1985.[69]

In a 1991 interview with Barbara Walters, actress and singer Bette Midler accused Rivera of groping her. In a 2017 tweet, Midler renewed the accusation. Rivera later tweeted a response, saying he recalled the incident "much differently," and apologized, "in the very least, publicly embarrassing her all those years ago."[70]

Rivera is a resident of Shaker Heights, Ohio.[71] He previously resided in Middletown Township, New Jersey, at Rough Point, an 1895 shingle-style estate.[72]

Rivera is an active sailor. As owner and skipper of the sailing vessel Voyager, he participated in the Marion–Bermuda Cruising Yacht Race in 1985, 2005, 2011, and 2013. In 2013, his vessel finished in 12th place out of 34 finishers.[73] He also sailed Voyager 1,400 miles up the Amazon river and around the world, going so far as to meet the King of Tonga on the international dateline in time for the new millennium. The adventures were chronicled in six one-hour-long specials on The Travel Channel,[74] and some of this footage remains available on his website.[75]

Politics

Rivera is a Republican.[76] He has described himself as pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, and pro-immigration reform.[77] Rivera supports some gun control. Following the Robb Elementary School shooting, he criticized the National Rifle Association of America (NRA) for saying that 18-year-olds should have the ability to purchase assault weapons, questioning why an 18-year-old is able to buy an assault weapon but not a beer.[

I know that at some point Musk said he's against supporting Israel's military, and voiced sympathy for the Palestinian people, but I don't know anything beyond that.

I'm half-Jewish, but I don't consider Musk an anti-Semite. I consider him manipulative, egotistical, and very willing to take advantage of any and all political issues, but anti-Semitetic? I don't think so. I mean, he'll deal with a Jew the same as he'll deal with anyone when it's financially beneficial.

Maybe he registers as Republican, but his political stance is more on par with the Libertarian Party.

Not important....but the Libertarian Party's stance is that gov't has to stay out of people's private lives so that the nation can progress organically and flourish economically without a bunch of bureaucratic red-tape, favoritism, and over-regulation in their way.

I'm a Libertarian.
sign me up for that..I give you my proxy vote....:D

Musk is greatly seethingly hated by significant numbers of others both economically and politically that will use any manipulative means in public discourse to make him look bad. And like Trump though in less confrontational way, he is resistant to Politically Correct pressures that his haters expect to use against any others that disagree with them. And like Trump he does make some mistakes while seeming to be little affected by the media consequences that make his haters foam at the mouth even more.

As an old Counterculture Era person while not following much about his controversies nor agreeing with some of his views, rather enjoy how Musk makes bullying PC types frustrated and angry.

People do not lift themselves out of poverty by living off gov't funds, they do it through education or skills training and employment.

But even then the struggle doesn't end if rent on a simple little house is stupidly high.
Gotta do it like the immigrants of the past did.
Hunker down
Eat beans
Share apartments with fam/friends
Work two/three jobs

Turns out yer too tired to blow money....or have kids
and free time is sleep time

End up with money in yer pocket

Do it long enough.....yer buyin' a place

He is entertaining in that way but thank God he isn't eligible to run for the presidency.

I agree.

But I totally resisted buying a home until recently. I liked moving around and changing jobs, and I loved renting older, neglected houses and fixin' 'em up. Always left them in much better shape than when the landlord handed me the key. And my kids helped soon as they were old enough to use the tools.

And I was also thrifty. Hated wasting money on trending stuff, unnecessary stuff, and gimmicky stuff. I bought our furniture and a lot of our clothing at thrift stores.

We lived simply but we had all we wanted, including lots of fun. The only thing I ever said No to when the kids were little was a home computer. They sometimes thought they were missing out, but they played outside, rode their bikes, explored nature. Today they're grateful. And with the money I saved over the years, they got to choose either a car or college.

The price on printer ink is outrages, isn't it? And the new cartridges can't be refilled. That's intentional.

Using a copier at an office store costs more, too, but it's not outrageously expensive.
I tried at one of the office supply stores and it compressed my files. The nice guy behind the counter enlarged them for me and didn't charge anymore. Some came out better than others. He said he had no idea why they compressed. I went to FedEx and their copiers are much better. They give a print preview. I even put my CPR card that was e mailed to me yesterday after the class on the USB poart and I'll print it out next time I go print off some crafting files. B&W are reasonable, the color copies are more.

I also find if I don't use my printer for a time, those cartridges clog. I think I'm going to stick with the copy place.

Not having the means to be involved in social and political issues, worrying about rising prices, the cost of insurance, the degradation of neighborhoods...those problems have been caused by all levels of US leadership.

That's my opinion, anyway. And imo, we all need to start voting center, and forget left and right. And I don't care WHO the politician is, as long as they're centrist we could stop the political pendulum from swinging to the extremes we're looking at now.
I talked to the very nice woman who co-started our PAWS thrift store years ago. She is no longer involved but is very social. She's over 70 and her husband has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's which is very sad. She's done animal rescue since a teenager. She knows a lot of people and told me about a group on Next Door that is working to try and put control on mobile home space rents. Especially senior. I don't really want to join Next Door (I looked and could see 'free kittens, free dog') But to get information on this and try and help, would be worth it.
