Vehicle explosion at the US side of the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls.

Assuming the small map in post #9, showing a Wyndham Garden Niagara Hotel is the one in Ontario. And that the red-marked track is therefore in Ontario:

Small detail, I'm sure. But the speeding car would have been in Canada — and if the eyewitnesses were Canadian, that estimated figure might more accurately be "over 100km/hour".
Everything you see in that map is on the US side of the border. If you look in the upper left of the map photo, you'll see a thin blue line running through the Niagara River and across the bridge; that's where the actual border between the US & Canada is.

There's a video in this NY Times report shows the vehicle jumping a curb, becoming airborne then flying through the air for quite a distance o_O

Reportedly the vehicle was a high end Bentley worth around $300K and capable of very high speeds. Other reports say the driver, a 56 year old man and his wife are thought to be the victims. Why the car was travelling at that high rate of speed; who knows?

Rainbow Bridge Explosion: No Sign of Terrorism in Vehicle Explosion at U.S.-Canada Bridge, Hochul Says

Whatever the reason for what the driver did, I’m just glad that no innocent bystanders were seriously harmed.

I just saw on the news that the car was going 100 MPH. It's possible that this was a suicide mission by a wealthy man who's world was falling apart. I tend to also doubt that a terrorist would be driving a $300,000 car. I bet that poor wife had no idea!

I believe authorities have now said it was not an act of a terrorist. I saw a clip of the video and that car was really airborne.

It all depends on how the government defines “terrorism.” Just because no bomb or other explosives were found doesn’t mean that the act was not terroristic.

I could cause a terror attack without the use of an explosive and they would label it the same way—-“No terror attack.” I don’t want to give anyone any ideas, but a terror attack can be manipulated or created without the use of explosives.

Newest word is that the couple had planned to attend a KISS concert in Canada. Concert was cancelled. Went to a casino for a short time, got in Bentley and hit a curb while speeding causing the car to "fly" into the border crossing place where it "exploded"... cars do that with this kind of impact. The couple who died were from New York. Possibility of a medical emergency is being investigated.

Not correct. The entire episode took place in Niagara Falls New York. JimB.

I agree with Packerjohn & Sippican. There was one 24 hour news commentary network that was churning out theories along partisan lines.
I don't want to do the same, yet I wonder if this was a murder/ suicide event? Don't have any evidence. That's just a shot in the dark.

Why dance around the fact that it was Fox News who ran with the terrorist label from the start ? JimB.

Well, I saw it HERE first and even commented on it being too soon to know in post #5. It was posted here with both US and Canadian links.

Terror was the wrong assumption but it was a reasonable assumption for the news networks and for the OP here to make, although I'm not saying he did. After all, we are involved with a war with terrorists.

Beyond that who ever heard of an old man driving a Bentley into a border patrol station at 80 mph? Maybe it will be a movie.

Yes, plus it took a while before the make of the car was reported.

Well, the New York governor ran with the possible terrorist label until she didn't.
From the New York State Governor website ...

“I have been briefed on the situation that occurred at the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls,” Governor Hochul said. “At my direction, the New York State Police is actively working with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force to monitor all points of entry to New York. I am traveling to Buffalo to meet with law enforcement and emergency responders and will update New Yorkers when more information becomes available.”

GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL

Here is the latest update on the car crash by the Rainbow Bridge. It is now sounding like the accelerator might have stuck and that is why the vehicle was going so fast and crashed.
I am thinking that this will be a HUGE lawsuit against Bentley automotive !

Apparently that model car had a some recalls but the possible issues/causes for that model only ran through 2021.

Apparently it was a hybrid which means the batteries, gas and engine oil fueled the intense fire. Being a luxury car it was probably heavy especially with extra batteries so a 100 mph collision would probably break the car up the way it did.

Still kind of fuzzy on those in the car. Heard something about the bodies were burnt so bad they can't do an autopsy and/or toxicology tests will be tough
