My cat died last 2 months ago

Completely unexpected. She was doing great in the a.m., and just after noon she was wheezing. That day she had to be put down. There had been no indication that she was ill. At all. I was so sad and shocked that even now I can't get rid of her stuff. I washed everything, put it in a corner all clean and tidy, and there it sits. A warning would've been equally sad for me, but the way this happened just made me feel that I had somehow missed a signal, something. Since then, I sometimes see her walking across the room out of the corner of my eye! Has anyone had that happen? Maybe it's an optical illusion.

She was beautiful. I'm so sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose a pet-after all they are family, too.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful girl. I lost my Buffy, age 17, this past June 9. I did have warning, months of warning. She had lung cancer. She did not fail in health till the end.

I spent all those last months with her. She couldn't clean her luscious fur anymore so I would use Baby Wipes and brush her several times a day. At the end, I brought her food and litter box to her.

We lost her brother, Max, the year before. A story behind his death as well, I'll spare you the details........

Have had cats for 56 years. I wanted one, desperately, my whole childhood. The co-op we lived in didn't allow pets other than birds for years, then when we were finally allowed my sister claimed to be allergic. After she left to be married and my parents went on a short vacation I rushed to the pet store.

I have such sympathy for you. Losing a pet is a loss like any other. Feel free to talk about her and post pictures. Many people here helped me when I lost Buffy, I am forever grateful to them.

She was a beautiful girl, may she rest peacefully. So sorry for your loss, and unfortunate you never found the reason that led to her passing. :(

Thank you. You're right that to lose a pet is just as hard as other losses. Your cat Buffy was quite an old cat. 100+ in human years? It's still hard though. Maybe harder. Mine was only 2! I'll dig up another photo for you tomorrow. She was a feral and the runt of the litter. Now I know that the runt of the litter might be the sickly one. I don't want to get a kitty, but I did think of a bird. I'll let you and everyone know what I decide (when I do).

What a beautiful kitty. I'm so sorry. This is my first Christmas in many decades without a cat and I understand what you mean about catching a glimpse of them out of the corner of your eye. They will always be with us.
It's hard not to have a kitty around. As to feeling they're around, I always feel she's somewhere. She would jump onto the desk and insist I stop typing. The other day I felt like she was somewhere about to jump up.

No it is not an optical illusion. I've heard the same mentioned by those who've experienced lost friends and relatives. And, I too have experienced it. I often listened to late night radio where others often shared the same experience. It is the spirit or presence of the deceased being near you. Seems the eye is particularly sensitive to recognize this movement. Your darling pet is still with you and will always be. She's not going to leave you. I hope this brings peace of mind and soul to you. You did nothing wrong. She's there with you loving you as she always did.

So sorry for the loss of your furbaby... Mine has opened up his cheek scratching at dry skin spot. It's the cold months again and with heating, baby gets dry skin.

So back to applying coconut oil on the wound and in about 3 weeks, will be good as new.

RIP to your sweet fluffy baby, Sad!

Sorry your cat has a wound now. Poor baby. I know you'll take good care of him.

NorthFloridaCanopy, I'm deeply sorry to hear about your beautiful cat. As you have stated: "Since then, I sometimes see her walking across the room out of the corner of my eye!"

I do believe... when you had seen her walking across the room out of the corner of your eye, it was her way of letting you know, she's still around you.

Oh gosh, that was a very upsetting experience, North.
Both to lose her, and in that very sudden way.

I am very sorry that happened.

I'm glad you told us. She's a sweetheart, and you took good care of her. She had a good life while she was with you.

To answer your question about seeing pets after the have transitioned, here's what I posted in June in our Paranormal section's thread about seeing ghosts:
Besides my posts #2 and #51, these are the only other ghostly-type encounters I've experienced. After our cat Audra died (over 25 years ago), I used to think I saw her, just out of the corner of my eye. It was like a small shadow like figure about the size of a cat, walking the floor. It would usually be coming out of the apartment hallway into the living room or headed to the adjacent kitchen. I once read that something like that could be a pet visitation. A few times I also felt like something had jumped on my bed (like she used to do). I shrugged it off as possibly being a dream though.
