Do you name your car?

I'm intrigued by why people name their cars, I suppose it's fun but I never have. To me my car is just a object, a tool. You might as well name your vacuum cleaner and washing machine - maybe people do.
Do you name your car and if so, what and why?

I keep a car for a long time. The last one 16 years until I hit a deer that jumped out one night and the insurance company totaled it.

I also don't own multiple cars, unlike those for whom the expense of an EV as a fun get-around-town toy might seem their birthright.

So I can't see naming a car. To me they are more like a leg or an arm, a part of me used for a purpose. I don't name my fingers or toes, either.

Some cars I have named, and some I didn’t. I think it was just if the vehicle seemed to have an appropriate name or not.
When I had my little VW camper bus, which I dearly loved, I named it “Hildegard“, after my mother, who was half German.

The most interesting one that I named was a really OLD Datsun pickup, from like 1962, before we even had many Datsuns here in the US. The shifting lever was completely backwards to what most levers (on the column) were supposed to work, with 1st being away and up, 2nd, away and down, 3rd being near and up, and reverse being near and down.
I can’t begin to say how often I tried to start driving in 3rd gear, and went to the wrong gear for reverse.

Anyway, this poor old truck was originally a light blue (as much as I could tell), but had grey and red primer and dents ALL over the whole body.
Once, some poor old man ran a red light and hit me, but I could not even tell which dents were new and which were old, and he was shaking badly.
I told him everything was fine, just go on home and not worry about it.
The truck was appropriately named “Ugly Bugly”.

I don't name my cars these days, but many years ago I had an '03 Lexus SC430 convertible that I named Esmeralda. Mostly because I had always wanted one and it was the most expensive car I've ever bought. Still is. She is long gone.

I have spent the most years with my current '17 Audi A4 but I haven't named her. I do feel an attachment though after 7 years.

I thought about doing it, picked a name and all, but it just isn't the same as naming a pet or something. I don't name my vehicle, not happening.
