I wish I could see them, but unfortunately, I'll have to rely on YouTube for that. This is from the Vancouver Sun:

"The northern lights are named that for a reason. The spectacular light show formally known as aurora borealis is usually an arctic phenomenon, with only the occasional cameo further south.
But this week, an uncommonly strong solar storm should make the lights more easily seen as far south as the northern U.S. states. People in Metro Vancouver and the south coast of B.C. will also have a chance to see them — at least in places where city light pollution doesn’t spoil the party."

From Earth.com
" For those who dream of witnessing the northern lights, an opportunity could present itself next week. The aurora borealis is expected to be visible over 17 U.S. states on Thursday, July 13. The states that could potentially get a glimpse of this rare spectacle include Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Maine, Maryland, New York, New Hampshire, Washington, Vermont, Idaho, Massachusetts, Wyoming, and Indiana."

Did you know that The northern lights are mentioned in the Bible, in the book of Ezekiel in the Old Testament. ”I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north–an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light.”
Thinking about it, can the Southern Lights Aurora Australis, be seen from The Middle East?

We did not see the NL's. They weren't visible in as many places as predicted, but one night around mid-night I got to see an incredible night sky filled up w the Milky Way. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

Tonight is supposed to be a good night for viewing the Northern Lights, assuming you have a clear sky and are up late enough to see them.
We are right on the borderline here in Huntsville, Alabama, but I think our skies are too cloudy even if they were visible to us. Here is the map for anyone who might be in an area to be able to see these and will be up late enough (or early enough) to see them.

Sadly we're expecting complete sky cover all night long. Recently we had a string of completely clear nights. oh well.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I always up in the middle of the night and meant to try and see If I could, although there's a lot of tall buildings and light pollution here. I'd really love to see them "live".
