Have you ever heard of Hug Therapy?

Phone- (ring...ring...ring...)

Hug Therapy: "How may we help you today?"

Woman: "Who will actually be hugging me for $80.00?"

Hug Therapy: "We have a number of celebrities on staff. Our magician David Cop-a-Feel will be hugging all this week!"

Woman: " (click)"

Have you not struck up a conversation with a total stranger, talked for a bit, laughed, then, when parting ways, got a hug from them? Happens to me quite often in stores. Sometimes, I get a hand squeeze and thanked for the conversation. Free hugs do give smiles to the faces of people involved.
Yes. I met a woman one day outside of the grocery store because I commented on how much I liked her Mazda Miata. We struck up a conversation for a good 10 minutes and after we finished we hugged.

I've been amazed at how much something that some might consider insignificant can mean to certain people. One time I gave a guy I'd just met, maybe an hour or so previous, a harmonica. He just teared up. We were both in our mid twenties, I think. He said nobody had ever given him anything before. I never saw him again.

I'd think a hug could mean a lot to some people. (Wouldn't want to impose one on somebody who doesn't like them.) I leave paying for hugs to others to contemplate.
