The first was perpetrated by the same shooter in several locations in Texas. He started by killing his parents in San Antonio. Then he killed four others after driving to Austin. He has a history of mental illness and violence.
Texas man killed parents before wild shooting rampage: cops
The next day was at the University Of Nevada, Last Vegas. The article below includes the sad statistics of how the number of school shootings has increased over the years.
"The shooter who killed three people Wednesday at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, was a 67-year-old career college professor, a law enforcement source said. And investigators are looking into the possibility that he may have been passed over for a job at the university.

The shooter, identified by law enforcement sources as Anthony Polito, died at the scene after a confrontation with police outside of a university building, according to Las Vegas Metro Sheriff Kevin McMahill."

I think the one in Texas was a spree killer going to multiple/3 locations over time. They didn't realize they were related at first. Sounds like he had a list of those who grieved him. The pos didn't have the courtesy to take himself out.

They're saying now the Las Vegas may have been rejected for a job there. Apparently he killed staff. For a highly educated 'professional' he seemed to bounced around the country alot unable to hold a job or never satisfied type. Saw something about four advanced degrees. Sounds like a professional student and then come time for the realties of life ie must work and pay bills he failed in more ways than one.

I'm not sure of what you mean by "over time" but the article says the shooter went on a "day long rampage".

Anyone with a history of mental illness and violence maybe shouldn’t even be out on the street.
In August the Texas killer was out on parole and cut off his ankle monitor which triggered a standoff but deputies backed off. Texas recently just passed a law with tougher treatment for those that cut off an ankle monitor. The suspect had been charged with domestic violence for assaulting family members.

Texas deputies confronted but didn't arrest fatal shooting suspect in August, a month before new law

The Las Vegas killer had quit his job at another university and hadn’t been employed since. He posted crazy conspiracy theories online which probably killed his job prospects. He had applied to Nevada numerous times and was mad that he didn’t get a job. Really sad that he killed people and horrible that students have to be afraid to go to school.

When the story first broke I wondered why he was apparently so unemployable. Now I know why. Besides the conspiracy theories, it was reported that he closely followed one of the infamous serial killers, but I forgot which one. He had sent out letters to 22 universities. They were intercepted but white powder was in some (it was talc). He had also just gotten an eviction notice.

The really sad thing about this is that although he had a list of people he was targeting, he didn't find them but shot others instead and they weren't even on his list. It is terrible that our young people can't even be safe in their schools!

If they have a tendency toward violent outburst, certainly not. But unfortunately, the mental healthcare system is fractured. We have a friend who's schizophrenic. It's taken forever for her to get the help she really needs. She's now in a place that doesn't kick patients out after two weeks. Two weeks is not long enough to treat someone with severe mental illness.

All of these shootings are soul-destroying, yet nothing
ever seems to be done to try and stop them, if anybody
ever suggests, banning guns, in any part of America, the
outcry is so great, it can be heard all around the World.

Other countries manage quite well, we all get such events
and the shooter is always a deranged individual.

Unfortunately, these are so common now, everybody is
sick of them, you can see by the response to the opening
post which was on Thursday, not many people have any
new words to write about shootings and I bet that you
all wish that they would stop, I know that I do and I am
not in America.

The guns were always the one thing against the states. It was a huge topic of discussion in our home while growing up. It was even more so after JFK's Assassination.

Job offers that promised piped dreams were refused without any regrets. The violence was always too much. I'm not in America either...

Overall, we've always had empathy for the good people in the USA who suffered and tried to survive through so much violence... Very sad!
