43 years ago John Lennon was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman.

I was in a car getting a lift to work when my Mum rang me with the news. I was pretty upset. Me and my Girlfriend (now Wife) went to Liverpool on the train that evening to attend the candelit vigil outside St George's Hall near Lime Street Station. It was an emotional end to the day.

Where were you?

I remember it well.. I was 25, my daughter was 4 years old.. we'd just been in this house a few months and we were about to celebrate our first Christmas here...

It was a terrible shock to all Brits ... ...I can hardly believe he's been dead now longer than he was alive..

I vaguely remember it, since I was not a big fan. In the lunch room one of my older coworkers , who apparently wasn't a fan either, made the remark that "well, I guess the Beatles will never get back together now", which did enrage a couple of other, younger coworkers.

May he Rest In Peace.

Remember hearing it on the news...
shocked...
but...can't recall exactly where I was.

How can I forget this day? I never have before. My husband & I were driving from Wisconsin to New York. We were in the Boonies of Pennsylvania. The two DJs on the radio who 'told us' also said he deserved it for what he said about Jesus. Which was more insane? John's death of course. Those small minded DJs a close second.

I was in college and everyone was talking about it. It didn't hit me like the death of JFK though.

It didn't surprise me. He tweaked the noses of some pretty important people in his time.

And his antiwar protest songs got him into a lot of hot water.

He bought a large hotel to live in thinking it would protect him but that didn't work.

Yoko Ono said she wasn't surprised that someone killed him because he was too honest.

At Northfield Park Casino in Ohio, they have on display in a case, one of the Suits he wore at one of his deportation hearings.
