Taller Toilets for Most Everyone

Generally, I’d thought that the taller toilets were just for seniors or folks with disabilities. Seems not. We were in a plumbing store to get a small part. Our toilets are original to the house so after 18 years we need to be prepared to replace them. When I asked if they sold many of the taller style, both salespeople agreed that it was about 95% now.

Have you this new style or are you considering it?
 

Taller toilets are definitely best for anyone with getting up and getting down problems. And those hand-bars are so handy.

Same for couches and chairs, they should be taller. They have those power lift chairs that sound like a great idea. Mine would probably get stuck in one position or another. :)
Probably won't be applied to a toilet. :ROFLMAO:

Our toilets are very old, came with the house, they are also very low. We have considered if we get either of them replaced, we will definitely get the taller ones that are now available.
 
Now I keep thinking of those double-deck outhouses I've seen up north. Supposedly it had to do with the deep winter snowpack, but maybe it was a gag that caught on in the '40s or something.

A few years ago I stayed at a hotel where the beds were 4 posters.. ..but they were very high, and I needed to literally get on a 2 step to get into bed... that was all well and good, but in the middle of the night when you're half asleep and have to get out of bed, it's like dropping off a cliff...

You're right. Never thought about that. Dangerous! I got up in the night several months ago and went to peek out the window in the dark. Somehow got my barefeet tangled in the cord to my air purifier (yea, I left it out in the middle of the bedroom, so my fault). I went flying and my poor foot was black and blue for at least a month. Can't be too careful.
 
18 years ago November 5th we moved here and one of the first thing DH did was buy and install 2 of the taller toilets. Keep in mind he was 6ft 4&3/4 inches tall, I was fairly tall for a woman in my day. and the few times I have had to use a normal size toilet I have barely been able to stand up again. He shrunk 1&3/4 inches and I shrunk 1&1/2 inches.

that was very tall for a couple back in the day wasn't it ?...
