Pot is Legal on Dec.7 in Ohio,Now Lawmakers Trying to Change What Was Specified By Voters!

I thought that I read somewhere that, some of the states
where it was already legal, were trying to get it reversed,
mainly because of the brain damage, leading to bad things
Happening, I believe that the leading place was Portland,
They have been suffering some extreme behaviour.

Studies, a few years ago stated that people who started
smoking pot, when they were young, suffered the most,
in later life.

However, in recent years it's become all too apparent that big money interests, some from out of state, are funding initiatives here in California for financial and political gain.
Very true. But, many of these have been voted down. Their campaigns are seen for what they are.

But I've given it up now because it seems that I've developed a sensitivity to it and even a single puff to help me sleep, has me wheezing like an asthmatic.
Do you have the same problems with the edibles? Reason I ask is my huzz has the same reaction to the mj cig's as you do but he can handle the milder edibles okay.

It was legalized in Canada just a touch over five years ago.

I welcomed the legalization. However, I can say that some of the finer details of effective regulation haven't been worked out yet. There are some knotty problems. One of which can involve die-hard black market growers (such as a particular neighbor of mine, a career criminal). In the longer run, I believe a more complete normalization can be achieved.
It will take time to weed out the black market operators...maybe a long time. There are still illegal stills being operated by present day moonshiners.

Thankfully! About the only upside to all the bogus ballot initiative campaigns is the revenue the local media rakes in from all the advertising.
And the employment of all the canvassers running about getting all the signatures. Sponsored by big money or not ballots still must have the necessary signatures to get it on the ballot.

You're going to get your lungs full of crap standing at a Bus Stop more than you'll get from a whiff of pot.
So that means that I should put up with my neighbors smoking pot? If you want to play Straw Man, go into a cornfield. There are ways for you to get high without affecting people around you. Would you smoke pot around your grandchildren? It won’t hurt them.

@PurplePansies

And it always strikes me that the perfect people who have no vices, always seem to make other people's business their own.
Where is my statement that I have no vices? Your pot smoking becomes the business of anyone who has to smell that junk! I thought pot was supposed to mellow you out? My entire point is - I couldn’t care less what you do to your body, as long s it doesn’t affect me. Second hand pot smoke affects me. Your “right” to be a pothead ends where my right not to be one begins!! It’s no different than cigarette or cigar smoke in that regard. Addicts really don’t like their supply threatened, do you?

That's absurd. What is America becoming if the vote of the people are over ridden by those who they put in office?

Shalom
The crux of Issue 2 was to amend State Statute to allow for growing in the home and smoking in the home. It is still unlawful to buy on the street. It was not to amend the Constitution it was an indirect initiated state statute proposal. Therefore the General Assembly can propose reasonable restrictions, but can not invalidate the Crux.

Smoking pot is it voluntary, standing at a bus stop if that is ones method of transportion is necessary. Second hand smoke is a Class A Carcinogen. What, if any, is Pot??

I'm glad pot is now legal in Ohio but some lawmakers are trying to change the voters will. It is now in debate in the Ohio State Court. They have also managed to not make it available in my city to have dispensaries until July of 2024-that is in my specific city.

Geez we've waited for forever to get it legal and now these paranoid lawmakers keep interfering.

IMO we should get rid of these archaic lawmakers instead of the weed.

I'm sure many have opinions on this and you just heard mine. Peace to you.
I"m right next door. We'll get legalized pot right after the liquor stores allow us to buy cold beer in the supermarket.

That'll be half past never.....

But hey, at least the state stopped raiding grocery stores for CBD!

Pot has been legal in my country now for many years. I've never once caught a whiff of pot from anywhere I've gone or been. Where are you frequenting that you are encountering so much pot and inhaling it all??

Or perhaps you aren't and have never inhaled second-hand pot and you're just being a crusty old finger-pointing and judgmental curmudgeon.

Completely agree, it's been legal in Colorado for a long time now and should be legal throughout the United States already as far as I'm concerned.

Yes and we have been waiting since early November and now will wait until July 2024. I should try and get some on the street 😜
These days you have to be careful, they are lacing everything with deadly Fentanyl. It was the good ol' days when street drugs were safe. ;)

Well we've had legal pot in Canada for 8 years now and it seems to have worked out okay. We even grew a couple of plants the first year we were in a house again (previous to that, 5 years in an apartment and no garden) and they did pretty good. After years of skulking around and trying not to get in trouble, I found it really hard to openly have a puff. My girlfriend always razzed me about that. But I've given it up now because it seems that I've developed a sensitivity to it and even a single puff to help me sleep, has me wheezing like an asthmatic. But some folks are okay with it and more power to them on that score (as long as they aren't driving of course!).
THC edibles don't have to be smoked, and can be bought in very low doses.

@PurplePansies

So you'll stand at a roadside Bus Stop for a half an hour inhaling diesel and gasoline...then turn around and yell at the guy behind you for sparking up a joint.

Is this your line of logic?

You’re not an American? Then this isn’t any of your business, is it?
BTW - Marijuana can affect your sense of smell, although the extent of the influence can vary from person to person.

Some studies suggest that cannabis use can decrease the sense of smell, particularly if used regularly and over a long period of time. This may be because marijuana can affect the olfactory system, which is responsible for detecting smells.

What part of “your right to get high ends where my right not to smell it begins”?! I think you’re trying to justify your bad choices. Typical pot head, completely illogical.

Bye now. Weedy.

@PurplePansies, if you don't choose to imbibe that's up to you, there's no need to be so rude to Ruthie. It's not permitted to smoke marijuana in public places. So unless you are indoors and keeping company with those who indulge, which I doubt, there's not much chance of you coming into contact with the smell of or getting high off second hand pot smoke.
You have that right, well said.

I guess I missed all that counter culture in my younger days because I had a wife, 2 kids, and a mortgage.

But @Ruthanne is right about the legislature trying to do an "end run" to negate the voters wishes,

I'm Canadian and I'm giving you the Canadian experience as it has been legal in my country for many years now.

Now stop avoiding my question. Where exactly have you been going where you've been subjected to so much involuntary inhaling of pot? Please answer the question.

Why do potheads try so hard to convince the rest of us? Probably trying to convince themselves. Live and let live. Go ahead and get high and stay high! I.DO.NOT.CARE! Just don’t pollute the air in my home with your stink! GEEZ!

I know and I have a few left in the fridge. But I admit that I kind of prefer the quicker effect of a puff, then the slow build of edibles. A residual preference from my bygone 'naughty' youth I guess. And since we have a bunch of buds left, I'm going to have to learn how to make 'oil' to use in cookies or something because I'm reluctant to just let it sit.

Seriously? You're going to just start off by being unpleasant? How old are you? And lady, even when I was having a puff before bed, you were no where near my place and I was no where near you so spare me the attitude.
