Never Say Never...What Have You Done That You Said You'd Never Do?

1. I said I'd never get married again. And a little more than two decades later I did.

2. I thought I could never dissect an animal and avoided biology in high school because of that. But when I took a college Anatomy & Physiology course for my major, we wound up working on a cat (no less !) for the entire semester. I started college classes when I was 37.

3. I said I'd never let my son move back in with me. But of course after my DIL passed away, I invited him to move back in. Their sons had moved out and it didn't make sense for him to continue paying for a 3 bedroom apartment.

4. The first time I tried cottage cheese, I thought it was disgusting and said I'd never eat it again. Then I discovered Golden Cheese blintzes. One of the ingredients is cottage cheese. I love those things and now I keep them in the house.

I always said I wouldn’t fly international, but I got roped into flying a chartered plane to Canada. It just so happened I had a day off and a passport. All of the other pilots on duty were booked to other flights. I was in New York when the Rangers had to get to Calgary and had they waited to get an international pilot to the airport, they would have been late.

I was still in the airport after we had landed from Denver when I got the call. I could have turned it down, but that may have worked against me the next time I asked for a favor, so I took the flight. I flew the Rangers to Calgary. Surprisingly, they were very quiet. Even the flight attendants said it was an easy flight.

Get married a second time.

I held out for 16 years.. despite having several proposals , never had anyone move in after my divorce.. Determined not to marry again, or live with anyone after my first marriage had left me traumatised..

Long story short .. I did marry again.... lasted 20 years.. most of it was hell after the first couple of years... never ever should have gone back on my first instincts

"No, no, I will not, I tell you."
"No, no, never again, but then, I did go back to Mars.... and my enchanting Marsbarbara was waiting for me with her hypnotic red eye, tempting me into her huge rocketship full of Snicker bars and 137 flavours of ice cream."

"I've had that dream 7 times now. 😊

Did your mom adjust and does/did she like it there?
Debrah, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The first day, we met the woman who was to be her aide. My mother had an unusual name and we had never heard of anyone else with that name. Her aide had the same name! Then I found out one of the other young ladies who would assist in her care is a distant cousin. I took that as a sign.

It was a lovely place, clean, no unpleasant odors and they treated her well. I could go to the administrator with any concerns I had and she would accomodate me (us). For instance I asked for a room change so that my mom could be closer to the nurses station and that was done immediately. The food was good until a few months before she passed, when they got a new nutritionist.

My mom had to go to the hospital for transfusions every 3 or 4 months. I remember one night when the EMTs brought her back to the nursing home (she had been gone almost two weeks), I heard the nurse yelling excitedly and happily.."Grandma's back...grandma's back!" The EMT said "I feel like I'm wheeling a celebrity". :D The staff loved my mother, called her "a sweetheart" and took excellent care of her, so yes she liked being there and it was such a relief for me to know she was well taken care of.

I'm so glad that worked out for you all! You were happy, your mom was happy! Such a blessing.

I said I'd never deal with Wells Fargo bank. but they offered a credit card deal that I couldn't pass up....2% cash back on every purchase and $200 bonus back after spending only $500 in 3 months. Got my bonus and I may ditch them in a couple of months for Capital One that is now offering a similar deal.
