Have you picked out your present to yourself for Christmas yet?

My son bought me a flashlight with a strap you put around your head with the light on your forehead. It was for taking the 2 dogs out at night which used up both hands. Came in handy until I moved and now have a large fenced in backyard where they come and go at will.
Posted this before seeing post 48 above.

Those are great. Very handy.

I use them when snowblowing after dark to supplement the headlight on the blower. I also like to make a fire at night in a portable firepit on the patio, and the light helps get the fire laid and lit.

Oh, thanks for the ideas because I haven't been using it. No snow here but now I can think of other reasons to use it like taking my trash cans to the end on the driveway. They come so early I sometimes go when it's still dark and the driveway is long.

I even use them in the house for close work where I need more light.

BTW: Many come with an optional red light, and some even with green as well. The green is more visible to humans than a lot of nocturnal animals, fish, and insects and it may preserve night vision better than red.

I buy things when I need them so not specifically for Xmas. My wants are much less as I age. I rarely buy clothes since being retired and don’t wear much jewelry anymore either so I kept a few favorites and gave some to my Dil and sold the rest.

It just occurred to me that in the past 3 years I have spent major money on home improvements and international travel. So maybe my priorities have just changed:)).

I have home improvement projects waiting to be done but I can't consider that a gift to myself, although it's nice to take it off the "to do" list. International travel does sound like a gift though. One of these days I am going to tag along with my daughter and her husband on one of their trips.

My home improvements were more ascetic than must haves like a new roof. I bought a condo so bought new appliances, had it painted, laminate flooring, new light fixtures, new toilet, sink, faucet and enclosed my balcony with glass. I also bought some new living room furniture.

I cannot think of anything I need or want for Christmas. Like Pinky, I have been buying for my family... and also for my cats! Our daughter just turned 40, so that was quite a celebration!
I like to spoil our grandchildren. They are so appreciative. It makes me happy.

Woke up Tues this week with no idea that I'd spend $1000 on a new mobile phone, but I did. My new Google Pixel 8 Pro 512GB arrived yesterday and I've been smiling a lot. My old one was a 3 yr old Oneplus 8 that stopped getting updates. The new Pixel will get both OS and security updates until Oct 2030.
