What have you bought recently?

Since we’ve never had a problem with pods (knock on wood), I googled this. It appears the problem is from not running hot water prior to turning on the dishwasher. We’ve always done that.
Thanks for the tip. My DW supposedly heats the water if it comes in too cold, but I'll make sure to run hot water in the kitchen just in case.

I didn't buy anything again today except, well, a couple of bucks on mayo, milk, cheese. I don't think that counts.

Oh, wait. I did spend money even if I didn't actually buy anything. I paid for the kids' Uber because their car died. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to come all the way up here for lunch and Christmas stuff. It was pricey, but hey, I really, really wanted to see them, yanno?

how far away do they live ? How old is your son ?

They live in a land far, far away :ROFLMAO:. Actually, in the city. I'm way far away in the northern 'burbs about 30 miles. They tried to rent a car, but there were no cars available anywhere until next week so I offered to spring for Uber.

He's 62. I don't know how that's possible. Am I really old enough to have a kid who's 62?

so he's roughly the age of some of us here?.. why are you paying for his Uber ?... no, scrub around that.. you do you of course.. but..ya know...

Because the Uber cost way more than what they'd have spent to rent a car! And I'm the mom and it's Christmas and I wanted to see them and stuff.

ETA: Cost of Uber so high because...Friday before Christmas, busy time, so upcharge all they can. I guess Uber knows there aren't any rental cars available!

Yesterday at a Walmart neighborhood market bought for the first time ever for ~$7, a 28 ounce plastic container of store baked cookies labeled "Christmas sugar cookies". Ate 2 yesterday, then 3 today, then tossed all the rest into my trash. I normally enjoy most sweets. Have seen these kind of local bakery made cookies in supermarkets for years but had never bought any. They were white with a heavy sugar frosting layer with Christmas colored red-green sprinkles.

When I ate a first cookie yesterday, my initial reaction was negative. They didn't at all have the consistency of any cookies I'd ever eaten but rather reminded me of cake? The thick frosting on top overwhelmed the soft spongy doe. So cut the frosting off a second cookie and just ate that. Well yeah, sort of like white cake mix? Note, I am relatively ignorant about cooking. My beloved mother was an excellent all around cook and at Christmas always made a wide variety of delicious cookies for our large family that were always better than any I've ever bought in stores.

So this afternoon after consuming a can of Progresso broccoli cheese soup for lunch that I enjoyed, then after a short nap as a dessert, tried another two cookies after first cutting off the frosting and had the same yukk reaction? Yes, they tasted reasonably sweet like white cake I enjoy occasionally. An hour later they did not mix well in my plumbing... I tossed all the rest in the trash.

So then went on the web and searched with "cake mix cookies" and noted endless recipes about how using those cheap boxes of white cake mix, cookies were easier to make, had the consistency of somewhat denser cake and how many people loved them. Well ok. But a long ways from say Mothers brand sugar cookies, much less my Mom's that were much denser with higher fat content.

Today I bought a new bathroom mirror with bling on it and paint for the bathroom cabinet. I like the countertop which is stone but the cabinet is an ugly color so I am sanding it and then painting it. 2 years ago my son replaced the toilet, sink, faucet and lights so the frugal bathroom facelift was started. My handyman will handle the mirrors.

Ok David. I'm sending you a virtual box of homemade Christmas cookies. The are just like ones your mother made.
Maybe @hollydolly will send virtual homemade broccoli cheese soup!

Well to respond to your bathroom, Wife also had picked up a mirrored medicine cabinet to hang on the wall behind the sink. We have a 48" marble sink top with some purple splash in it, On an Oak cabinet with soft close drawers on each side. Shower kit is still in the boxes, 5 ft pan with glass sliding doors, got the diverter plumbed in yesterday, All the fixtures are the dark antique bronze finish. Toilet is also still in the box. Got lots to assemble, but only thing left to pick out is the paint color.
