I just got accepted to ACP and today I got an email from Spectrum asking me to send the form letter attached to the President to urge Congress to continue this program. Should I send it???? It's not a spam email. I checked on Spectrum's web site.

If it's for helping you get cheaper internet and or cable I would send it. Were they gonna do away with it?

Yeah, I called Spectrum after getting their email saying;
Your Service Is Updated
Hello Gary,

Thanks for your order. Your service has been updated as you requested.

Know I didn't order anything
Thought it to be spam but called to make sure

Just telling me the ACP discount is going away next year

Told 'em about the poor wording
They said, 'yeah they're gettin' a lot of calls'

Just another $30 to the budget

I have the ACP with my Google Fiber, and they have not said anything about this program stopping, so I just looked up information online.
The program is fine until at least the middle of 2024, and they have already requested additional funding to keep it going for the rest of next year.
According to the article I read, this is something that is approved of by both parties, as well as independents, so it is likely to continue to be funded.
It seems strange that Spectrum seems to be the only one notifying people that it might close ?

Here is an excerpt from the cnet article:

While the White House requested an additional $6 billion to keep the router lights on for the ACP through 2024, this is largely a stopgap measure and a far cry from the permanent funding many advocates would like to see.

In a sharply divided Congress, this is the rare issue with strong bipartisan support. According to polling from Public Opinion Strategies and RG Strategies, 78% of voters support continuing the ACP, including 64% of Republicans, 70% of independents and 95% of Democrats. A bipartisan group of 26 governors recently sent a letter (PDF) to leadership in Congress urging them to extend funding. The FCC is expected to set a date for internet providers to notify ACP participants that the program is expiring, but has not yet done so.

I don’t know why we don’t have free internet across the U.S.
Maybe the govt would then control what we are allowed to see and not? I haven't seen a thing out of France since last spring when they were in the news online daily for practically burning their country down. Now, dead silence. Cuz their govt got involved.

I've not heard of "ACP", had to google it, but it does sound like a great idea who's time is well overdue. Our community has been blessed with fiber optic service at gigabit speeds (1000 Mbps) through Race communications. For years all there was, was dial-up and bottom tier DSL service though Verizon(later Frontier comm.).

Do you pay for your service?

We also have had fiber optic service for years, but the faster you want, the more expensive it is. Comcast has a monopoly in this area. Verizon won’t come into our County for some reason. I ask why, but no one knows or wants to tell me. I get 1GB service for $80 per month. Standard service is 400 Mbps for $55. I wanted it faster because I used to do online day trading. I don’t anymore, so I think I am going to cut it back.

At my friend’s all but begging me to buy a home in Florida, I bought a double wide mobile home. They have like 4 or 5 choices of different companies to choose from, so their cable and internet prices are much less than I pay here. I pay all but $300 here in PA and for the same service in Florida, I pay $179.

We pay $93.96 for Race Comm. Fiber Optic service, with includes 1,000 Mbps up/down, and a fiber optic landline. Didn't do any bundle with TV, kept the existing DISH.net. I love having gigabit service, after 15 years of mediocre DSL.
