After her controversial statements during the Congressional anti-semitism hearing, the president of Harvard has resigned. NOT because of those statements, though. She refused to step down for that... but for plagiarism. Harvard's president... plagiarism. SMH

A university president is held to a higher standard than the students. And when a student is caught plagiarizing, it can end their career before it starts.

A person plagiarizes because they don't have confidence in their own instincts, philosophy, views, and/or intelligence. So why should anyone else?

Not sure I agree with that. I think most people plagiarize due to laziness.

That may be. Not all of them get caught. Regardless, particularly at Ivy League universities, plagiarism rules are definite and the punishment is harsh.
This woman just obtained the presidency earlier this year... July I think. There's been so much controversy surrounding her in that short time, but have to say I wasn't expecting this one. I'm sure a lot of people in relatively high positions take the "fake it 'til you make it" path and do stuff like this, but Harvard's Prez is always under a very strong microscope. It's quite a blemish for them... the Congressional thing more than this, I think. She really should have taken a page from Liz Magill's book and avoided this.

Initially, she said "oopsie" after the university simply admonished her for failing to include quotation marks or otherwise credit the original authors she blatantly accidentally plagiarized. But then it became too obvious she never intended to.

Plagiarism is a very bad thing. If true, she never should have accepted the President role to begin with, but should have stayed low key in her prior job.

It should reflect on....but has not so far ...the group that hired her..... that is their job to research and vet people for a prestigious job.

if 50 instances have been uncovered so far have been found what vetting process .........did not look.
students who would have been expelled for much less. is this a do as I say not as I do....?
Damage is done ... those donors who pulled out and students that may consider another school....
a blemish on the reputation is not wiped away by keeping her on staff and just trying to make story go away...
