This could be in the Understanding your limitations thread. I didn't know if I could do this until I tried.

Cut all I could as high up as I could on the lower part with the saw I bought. That took 2 days.

Took Bobcats advice to assure safety. Changed original plan and tied the ladder to the tree. Safer to rent a 13ft. electric pole saw. The top branches not very thick the branches fell away from me. Rental by the day so prepping to cut made it possible to get the top done the same day.

Clean up is on going.

As an advanced senior, I am glad my son-in-law starts helping me more and more.
Today he is cutting Eucalyptus Tree branches hanging over the fence.
I used to do it, but I am just no longer that flexible LOL

Excellent. ! I too have a very tall electric saw pole.. what I didn't bargain for after the o/h left, was that I wouldn't have the strength to hold the heavy saw pole for more than a minute or 2... rendering it pretty useless for me sadly..

I heard that the poles that have a harness and a "cup" to support the pole can be dangerous as well.

I prune whatever branches I can reach. The rest will either grow or I'll hire that job out. But it's exhausting doing it alone. Just carrying all those limbs to the woods wears me out.

that's what I do but with the long reach hedge trimmer.. because that's not quite as heavy as the branch saw.

Me too. It is so top heavy that it is really hard to lift it so high and hold it.

Yes, exactly that..it's such a shame because I really feel it's a waste when I could be chopping the branches myself, but instead I have to get someone in, and pay to have it done.. whereas the O/h did it in the past
