New Video Shows Thousands of Migrants Headed on Foot to Southern US Border

Isn't the goal smaller government? Everyone should be fine with a 15% across the board cut.
Right up until funding for firefighters, police, & other essential gov. employees are no longer employed.

Of course there's no date on that article because it's old news and while it wasn't easy to absorb those families it was done. My wife is a weekly volunteer at Hunger Coalition and has been packing food boxes for distribution for 4 years so I get the blow by blow of HC's ability to meet the needs of the hungry in our area on a weekly basis. She has a shift today at 1pm - I'll report back later.

The region's employers need workers to fill a long list of job openings, in all corners of the service industry. And while Peruvians have indeed been anxious to meet that need, their own needs – for housing, hunger and much more – have been left out of the conversation.
I was under the impression that hiring illegal immigrants is a felony. Has that changed? Also, there was something in the Boise news early last year about towns being told they're not allowed to give sanctuary status to illegals. Is that these same Peruvians? I'll need to research it to see if my memory serves or if it's turned to mush. But pretty sure... we'll see.

As are the quoted headlines from the NYP which are totally misleading, but you had/have no objection to those. Is it because they agree with your point of view?
Sorry, but you are obviously baiting me, that won't work as I don't respond to such games. I made no reference any other specific posts except the one post I quoted.

Its clear you didn't comment on the same tactics used by others with a differing view so I quoted your post to illustrate a clear double standard. There was no intention on my part to bait you into a reply of any kind, that was solely your choice.

Yes, they had the legal signed papers, at least I assume most of them did, but otherwise they were really not that different from today's immigrants.

Having legal, signed papers is a lot!!! different from the flood of migrants entering the country illegally. We are moving in the direction of a society without rule of law in many areas. Not too many people think that through to its logical end point; it's not pretty.
.

Just prompted to say this: If one is a bit of a walk to the bus to the train get up and going 15 minutes earlier. Thinking otherwise is absurd. We all had to do stuff like that. What, tent to door car service? WTH? Really? After walking from Venezuela? My grandmother walked from Odesa to Hamburg. Now that's a trek. Hopefully she was able to hitch on a goat cart or train on occasion.

(1.) ... The thought is, we need hard workers. Most citizens shirk hard work.
......... Most Central Americans aren't afraid of hard work and fill manual labor jobs.
......... As a kid growing up on the farm I witnessed the hard work of the migrant workers.
......... Can't say I could have done it. Still that work is mostly mechanized now. Who will care for the machinery?

(2.) Many Asians go back home after schooling at universities.

(3.) Some predict 100's of millions of US are moving to Texas in coming decades. As populations double again in the next 40 years where all gonna live. Man Made Islands ? Some where there needs to be an answer to the Lemmon effect coming???

Those migrating from the east coast of the young USA mostly walked alongside the Oxen pulling an overloaded wagon. Polled down the OHIO R. with the stuff on a large handmade raft. They had to find the energy, no choice.

When I was young, I saw the ruts cut by those Oregon trail migrating young families and can only imagine the Natives sitting on Buttes watching from the distance and creating Legend Stories around the Tepee. Maybe they believed they are just passing thru? We Citizens are rapidly being overwhelmed number wise. Maybe how we
handle this will point the Country in the best direction as the future unfolds.

Sponsoring 500 immigrants from Peru to take care of sheep & perform the low paying service jobs is different than housing, feeding & providing health care for millions of illegals. Pretty sure fast tracking work permits would be the way to get around hiring.

That set up reminds me of liberals complaining that the wealthy exploit the poor.

From a more recent article
“There’s incredibly wealthy and incredibly poor people literally living right next to each other,” she said. “The people who are struggling to make ends meet have to pay the same prices at the grocery store as the millionaire who’s coming here and visiting their third home.”

Data from Redfin also shows the median price of a home in Blaine County ranges from $400,000 to more than $1 million across its towns:

Carey: $439,000
Bellevue: $635,000
Hailey: $645,000
Sun Valley: $1.1 million
Ketchum: $1.4 million

A county of contrast: Food nonprofit spearheads equitable hunger solutions in rural Idaho - Idaho Capital Sun

Somehow I suspect the Peruvians fall into the incredibly poor.

Thank you CallmeKate!
The VA saves lives everyday and I believe that fact with my whole being, but VA does not reveal to Congress or to anyone else, their true malpractice stats. The only purpose of this Bill is to SAVE more Lives.

I also believe that ALL of you have bonafide expertise in many subjects which I think some posters overlook or do not consider. Or dont know about. This could be parental expertise, caretaker expertise, our past work history, understanding Medicare and SSA, etc, and art works, crafts, musical talents, all the great recipes from so many, so much expertise here----as well as the Great Photos! It takes computer savvy as well to have the expertise to start and run a web site like SF.

I think I was too tough on Vaughan, as I had no idea he was not commenting on VA as an American .

I am sure he has expertise as well! And I apologize to Vaughan and to every one here ,if my comment to him was too tough.

That's absolutely ridiculous. If you have eyes you can see where you are and what is around you. There are also plenty of people to assist in directions. Everything is right in front of your face at Floyd Bennett. You're being silly, just to be contrary, Vaughn. A bus stops Right Outside, if it were a snake it would bite you. Bus. Right there. Right in front. Heck, even *I* could help with directions. In Spanish.

Nope, not being silly just to be contrary, that's a silly insinuation. Have you ever been left in a country where you don't speak the language? And have you any idea how the general public is treating these people? Yet you seem to think they have money in their pockets and understand a transport system they've never experienced before. They're also supposed to understand bus schedules, and bus routes too, apparently.

People want them caged, yet you're saying they should all get on public transport and go wherever they want. There's a huge difference between what you consider common sense and the reality.

Yes, @Vaughn, you are being silly. Every second person in NYC speaks Spanish; Yes, I have traveled to foreign lands but someone either spoke English, or in Italy I used Spanish to communicate. The General Public are my neighbors and we are very nice.

You act like I live in a box in a cave. I'm one of the rare NYers, a native born American.

Hm, let me guess.... perhaps because they might not be here illegally?
Say what? And why are you saying "here" as if you live here? Have you moved to the U.S.?
Do you know what Oppositional Defiant Disorder is? "ODD"? Just curious... no particular reason for asking.
I don't even know what your post means. The discussion is about the illegals pouring over our southern border by the tens of thousands. Have you heard about that at all?!

Well, you're welcome to think that. It's a bit of a shame that when faced with a different opinion you choose to brush it off as being "silly", but you do you. I'm not being silly, and you're being faintly ridiculous in this matter. I don't think you understand what's really going on at all. I laughed when you wrote "I have traveled to foreign lands but someone either spoke English, or in Italy I used Spanish to communicate". Their speaking english is only useful if YOU speak english.

Mind you, I've never been approached by a group of homeless people speaking no english but wanting to know which bus I need to take to get to wherever I'm going. I suspect when you traveled you had the great leveller - money.

Oooooo armchair diagnosis on the internet by non-professionals. What could possibly go wrong? Do you know what a Karen is? Look it up. :D

My advice, if you don't know what a post means, either ask for a explanation, or better yet, ignore it.

ps: You seem to have forgotten that the migrant issue is global. Not to mention, they're often people who have traveled from countries other than Mexico. Man, you try so hard to start a fight. :D

People speak English almost everywhere on this planet to some degree; if not there are many ways for humans to get their points across. i.e. almost everyone says "ok"; body language is mostly the same.

Some old yokel is always coming up to me speaking Russian. I say 'English', and they immediately find a Russian speaker.

Hello WVV.

I am not American. I lived and worked in the US for 18 years. I'm married to an American, and have family who live there now. I love the US, and really enjoyed my time there. I stay on top of what's going on in the US because I still have family and friends there, my wife obviously follows things (she was born in Manhattan), and because I follow international news.

Some here think that if you're not physically in the US, you can't possibly know what it's like there, and you're not entitled to an opinion on what happens there. Not coincidentally, the same people don't happen to agree with some of my views, so they attack the person not the message. It's a little pathetic for grown adults, but you can't fix everyone. ;)
