Get checked for Osteopenia or Osteoporosis.I measured myself yesterday and I am two full inches shorter than I was in highschool. That boggles my mind realizing my body and skeletal system have compressed that much.
How about you?
how can anyone see your spine when viewed from the front ?I don't track my height. I can still reach all the high cabinets in the kitchen.
I learned a few years ago that my spine curves when viewed from the front. I suppose I've been that way since childhood.
I was 5'7" most of my life and now I'm 5'6". I'm okay with that. How about you?
Besides Superman there are doctors using Xray.how can anyone see your spine when viewed from the front ?![]()
oooh how strange.. to see your spine curved though an X-ray from the front.. and not be able to see it from the back..Besides Superman there are doctors using Xray.
That's a lot!Lost 3 & 3/4 inches and praying I don't get shorter or I'll be in four foot territory and don't like that one bit!

Scoliosis. A person with scoliosis has a sideways curve to their spine. The curve is often S-shaped or C-shaped.oooh how strange.. to see your spine curved though an X-ray from the front.. and not be able to see it from the back..
yes I know about Scoliosis , Princes Eugenie has it...Scoliosis. A person with scoliosis has a sideways curve to their spine. The curve is often S-shaped or C-shaped.
I didn't say you couldn't see it from the back. I was just trying to say that the curvature is sideways instead of being straight vertically.
It's never caused me any inconvenience and only because I was x-rayed for some other reason was it discovered.
I think part of my loss in height is due TO exercise! I've been hard on my body and still am, the constant stress of hard work and exercise can be felt in most of my joints including my spine. The way to combat this is regular exercise like jogging or walking. If we are immobile we lose bone density. See the article below on how young healthy astronauts lost bone density while in zero gravity, despite their best efforts.
Six months in space leads to a decade's worth of long-term bone loss
I am right there with you on that, @Pepper ! I have never been tall, but I was a few inches taller than my daughter, who is barely 5 feet tall. The last time she was here, she looked me right in the eye and told me that she was now as tall as I was. We measured my height, and it is true, I am now only 5 feet tall also.Lost 3 & 3/4 inches and praying I don't get shorter or I'll be in four foot territory and don't like that one bit!
In that case it might be called Royal Scoliosis. I just have the basic low income type.yes I know about Scoliosis , Princes Eugenie has it...
Right! My son is just a tad under 6' and 220lbs., when I see a picture of us together I look so tiny.I know what you mean .... every time any of my family (kids, grandkids) come over to visit, I keep looking up higher and higher at them.
I didn't realize I had a family of giants ..... even the youngest grandkids are taller than me.
..and yet in your avatar you look like a big guy. I know we generally can't tell height from a picture, but most people who are tall have long necksRight! My son is just a tad under 6' and 220lbs., when I see a picture of us together I look so tiny.
