I bought 2 pounds of chaga mushroom chunks for tea. I requested a refund because the chaga chunks have mold growing on them. Evidently this is a thing where the mushroom ferments and grows mold.

Is the mushroom supposed to grow the mold, @Mr. Ed ? I have started using mushroom powder each day because there are so many mushroom with health benefits. I use mine as an addition to my coffee, or chicory herbal coffee. The powder is dry and you just put a little bit in to your coffee (or however you are drinking it, some people use cocoa), and stir it in.

Besides the mushroom powders, I also have some little packets of both coffee and cocoa that have mushroom in them, and they are delicious !
The kind I have is made by Four Sigmatic, and I got them on Amazon . They have several different varieties with different mushrooms in them, and you can get regular brewable coffee or the instant packets.
Here is a look at the regular ones.

You seem to find the best of everything. Lol
I take Cordyceps mushroom and drink Reishi mushroom tea. The Cordyceps is supposed to good for curbing dementia. It’ helps with cognitive function. I only just discovered these mushrooms last year. I didn’t realized the many benefits they offered.

i was given a bunch of mushroom coffee for christmas ....... i have been drinking it (often mixed with more real coffee) not sure if the benefits really are enough to get any more once i get through this tastes like dirt. Brand is called Ancient Roots
it is made with Chaga and Lion's mane mushrooms ......... would rather eat them in dishes and have a local grower that does a farmers market booth from April to October ........ they do not stand up well in buying in bulk and trying to keep them.

Nothing is going to taste like coffee, except real coffee. However, you can learn to enjoy other coffee substitutes for their own flavor. Coffee and tea taste a lot different, but i enjoy both tastes, and this is how I look at the mushroom coffee drinks.
I do not expect them to taste like my morning cup of real coffee; I just expect them to be hot, creamy, and have a nice flavor. Adding a spoonful of plain raw cocoa powder helps cover some of the earthy taste of the mushroom, and also enhances the benefits; so I usually add the cocoa along with the mushroom powder.

The Cordyceps is supposed to be helpful for kidneys and liver, and that is the main reason that I put it in my coffee, @PeppermintPatty ; but curbing dementia is a great benefit also.

This is what i use, and it only takes 1/4 teaspoon . I put it in the coffee mug with the cocoa and a little sweetener, mix the powders together as I add the hot coffee (or chicory drink) and stir, and then I add the creamer after it is all mixed. I also offer add a spoonful of acacia powder because it is a good prebiotic.

I have collected this hard fungus from local birch trees and made tea from it. I don't know if it did much for me although I did not try it for very long.

Are those mushrooms growing on birch trees. We get white mushrooms growing on our birch trees and moss 😛

You have some of the best ideas ever. I’m glad the cordyceps mushrooms are good for the liver and kidneys as well as warding off dementia. Thank you for your tips. They are great tips.
