Numero Cinco... for me would be... My own Home made bacon & Lentil soup, with added veggies.... . Doesn't matter how big a pot of this I make in winter.. and all good intentions to freeze it.. it never gets as far as the freezer!!

My choice of comfort food varies by why I am needing comfort.

If I'm sad or stressed usually I like a pint of ice cream.

If I'm sick then I like warm rice with milk and sweetener and cinnamon. If I had a sore throat I'd choose chicken soup and sweet hot tea. Lots of times if sick I also like mashed potatoes with butter.

If I'm having trouble sleeping, then a little bowl of cereal or hot oatmeal is comforting.

If it is gray and cold and cheerless, then chili or bean soup is nice.

Stroganoff, that I make with chicken rather than beef. I'm making it tomorrow :)
Have you ever heard of, or tried, mushroom stroganoff? We enjoy it regularly since seeing a TV chef prepare on some show or other. Keeping all but three of our meals, meat free, means we have to get creative. Two of those remaining four meals contain fish, so we come up with two vegetarian meals a week. We have discovered many but two of my favourites are, mushroom stroganoff and brie and broccoli quiche.

Mashed potatoes are always good.
