Why do people do this?

Yesterday one of my FB friends posted a picture of a poor dog with it's muzzle taped shut and tied down and being burned alive with a blow torch!! WTF!!! and WHY!!??? Why put that on FB... I deleted the post.. and told the person that I never wanted to see things like that again or I would defriend her.. but TOOO late!! I was haunted all night... I am so pissed.. It's not like we don't know those horrible things happen... but do we need to see them when we click to open our FB page? I am disgusted and depressed.. Thanks a heap FB "friend"...

What is the point other than to cause outrage and prompt justice for the person who did this?! I won't look at that stuff but fortunately it's rare that a FB friend posts this kind of stuff. Links to articles with no pics, but not the horrific pics.

Another reason why I refuse to go on facebook. Disgusting.

I'm really surprised this person posted this... Usually she just posts "God and Jesus" stuff.. which I scroll past.. this was the first time I saw something like this. For the most part my FB is pretty tame and unoffensive.

I know FB has its values in some areas but otherwise it sounds like a bunch of 5th graders with its "befriending" and "defriending".

That's why it attracts people like this current creep who put on the message about the poor dog.

Is it possible that this was linked to a petition to get the perpetrator charged and convicted or find out who did it (i.e. does anyone recognize the dog....?).
Petitions can make a difference in some cases but you have to get the word out. Or in some cases of animal abuse, the people have been discovered via social media.
A few years ago a couple of jerks uploaded a video showing themselves shooting baby ducks in a small lake or pond way out in the middle of some prairie. Nothing to see besides miles of emptiness.....except there was a billboard showing some kind of business from the region and lo and behold, someone just happened across the video on Youtube and recognized the pond as being near their little town in Alberta. Those guys were then arrested by Fish and Game and prosecuted.

There was another one of some teenage girl tossing pups into a river and they eventually found her.......living in some God forsaken Baltic backwater, Poland maybe. But it took social media to achieve it.

So maybe that was the intention, justice for the poor dog and incarceration of a monster.

Bless your kind heart Debby. I admire you and your ability to try to find a positive in everything. You see the evil, but you hope in seeing it whoever the dirty sadistic s.o.b is he may be caught. I'll say one thing, if I saw him do it, he would not ev er do any such thing again. Hurting animals and little children is my Achilles heel. I cannot tolerate if I see it.
