I hope you did your homework on the mirror before you sold it. They can go for a pretty penny depending on condition and how ornate they are.

I've been trying to sell these items for decades, so I was happy to see them go for $50. Antiques are cold turkey around here. I asked about them on a FB antique group and most said "Get anything you can." Some wits said "firewood" about the mirror.

I asked him and he said he's a dealer, so he probably buys antiques on the cheap, fixes them up and re-sells. I'm all for free enterprise.

That mirror was a pain - it's heavy and a lot of effort for me to lug in and out for every garage sale and hardly anyone even looked at it. All it would take was a gust of wind to topple it over and there goes a possible sale.

Marketplace was a nice selling venue a few years ago, but lately it's become overrun with spammers (CraigsList, also). I always check the profile of the person contacting me. If they've just joined a group or have a blank profile, I ignore them.

It's sad, isn't it? I listed something on Marketplace not long ago and was hit within 5 minutes of posting it. I got disgusted with it and took it down. I use to use Craigslist a lot years ago and sold everything I listed but I guess it's overrun with scammers, too. Glad it worked out for you

And reporting them does no good. They are probably fake names. Even if they are banned from a group, they just sign up again with another name.It's sad, isn't it? I guess I'm back to the flakes. Someone PMed me about Easter items I had for sale. We agreed she'd definitely come today between 1 and 4 pm. I just checked and she cancelled after I told her the address. Well, at least she let me know. I PMed her to ask if she wanted to re-schedule, but I have not had a reply yet.
