Kellog CEO Says Cash Strapped Families Should Eat Cereal for Dinner.

As CEO he recognises promoting sales is needed, as this Feb. 16 2024 article points out.

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. — The WK Kellogg Co’s fiscal 2023 was buoyed by price increases taken earlier in the year. For the full year, price/mix increased 12.6% while volume sold fell 9.8%. Of concern for management may be the fourth quarter trend of price/mix rising 7.5% and volume declining 10.1%.

“Net sales for the fourth quarter were $651 million, a 2.7% decline versus the prior year period,” said David McKinstray, chief financial officer, during a Feb. 13 conference call to discuss the results. “This performance reflects positive price of 7.5%, offset by volume declines of 10.1% related to, among other things, rising price elasticities due to the timing of our price increases. We spoke about this dynamic on our third-quarter call and said at the time that we expect it to continue into Q4 and early Q1.”

WK Kellogg benefits from price increases in fiscal 2023.

I still eat cereal but only buy name brand when it on sale for $2.00 a box. I also like some of the Aldi brand.

When Kroger runs a cereal sale I will by enough to have a stock of choices for about 3 months. Yes, I buy some cereals with sugar that the grandson loves. No way I would ever spend $5 a box.

Cereal?
Pffft

We just buy a big bag of rolled oats

Love oatmeal
It's substantial
aaaand
Left over oatmeal makes some mighty fine pancakes

Also, my lady makes pretty scrumptious oatmeal patties

She also makes our granola

Haven't bought cereal in years
Admittedly, I do like commercial cold cereal. I buy the off brands like Barbara's, Cascadian Farms or Envro Kidz. But ONLY on sale or if I find them at Grocery Outlet.

I do like and make oatmeal. I'll make a pot. Reheat leftovers in the microwave.

Does your wife have a certain oat patti recipe. Mind didn't turn out great.

And...who EVEN BUYS cereal anymore...
@ what...$5+🙄 a box???
I have noticed cereal is a real price increase offender. At least the brands I buy. They used to be on sale at one health food store 2/$5.00. Now they are rarely on sale and for more.

She's got several
There's one I'm particularly fond of

Asked her what's in it

'Oats, and this and that'

Her gravies make it much much better
(don't know what's in them, either)

She's got around a 1000 cook books
But, I do know most her vegan stuff comes from this one

Seems it's her vegan bible

Facts about Cornflakes:
Cornflakes is refined food.
According to the American Institute for Cancer Research, there are many health risks when it comes to consumption of heavily processed foods. Some of them can increase cancer risk. Heavily processed foods often include unhealthy levels of added fat, sugar and sodium that make the food taste better, but too much of them leads to serious health issues. Obesity, diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure are some of health issues.

Cornflakes have Additives.
Food additives play an important role in improving the taste, colour and smell of food. They end up altering the food’s nutritional structure, according to MDPI.

Cornflakes have sugar.
Dr Frank Hu, who is a professor of nutrition at the prestigious Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, concedes that there are effects of added sugar intake like higher blood pressure, inflammation, weight gain, diabetes, and fatty liver disease. They are all connected to an “increased risk for heart attack and stroke.” Cornflakes also have a high glycemic index, almost 82, which is not good for anyone fighting diabetes.

High calories form an important part of cornflakes.
The International Journal Of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity shared that consumption of high calorie foods can cause weight gain.

Cornflakes have high fructose corn syrup.
As per Plos One, there is an evidence that suggests that increased consumption of fructose, can induce metabolic dysregulation. So, now that you know the side effects of cornflakes. But hey-ho, if it makes Kellogs a rich company who cares about healthy eating?

the CEO of Kellogs says that? well he would. Obvious vested interest there - so obvious that he makes himself look stupid saying it.

Is poor advice - one can buy much cheaper and more nutritious food than boxes of Special K
People routinely consume far worse things. One Caramel Dubba Mocha Sugga Latte Grande with ChemWhip from Starbucks et al. probably outweighs the negatives of eating cereal for a week.

Manufactured Cereals are the worst possible food you can ever eat.
Thas my thought. Come on Cocoa Puffs or Wheaties?
Weed killers, Fertilizers & bug killers + additives all part
of the system of growth and Industrial processing.
Hard or soft boil an egg every morning and get on wid it + a Coffee with Cream not shaken powder.
If you want some bulk do some Air Frier green beans.

Yum, cereal.
We like it, too. My son and I eat it for a bedtime snack.

Last week we bought 3 boxes of Cheerios on sale for $1.97 each. (Valentines Day was over and they were still heart shaped.)

Then the next day we read that oats are covered in an insecticide that causes birth defects. Nobody here is planning to get pregnant soon, but we threw it all out. I don't think there's anything safe to eat these days.

What causes the most food poisoning? Lettuce.
