My husband was bitten by a dog Saturday....

We went to Boise for him to do a vehicle inspection(his side gig)and when he knocked on the door, the man came out, letting his dog out at the same time. The dog had been barking furiously since he knocked on the door, but lots of dogs do that so hubby wasn`t concerned. Well, the dog ran right to him and bit him on the thigh.Luckily,he was wearing thick denim jeans so it wasn`t as bad as it could have been.

He had just had his annual Medicare physical two weeks ago and said they gave him a tetanus shot so I wasn`t concerned about that, but I asked him if he asked if the dog had had his rabies vax and he did and the man said yes,he had had it. But on thinking about it later, hubby said "nobody`s gonna take that dog in for vaccinations-he`s out of control and he BITES!" He`s probably right.

But then,I decided to look at hubby`s MyChart from his doc visit because I had kept asking him if his arm was sore from his tetanus shot because usually it does make your arm really sore, and he kept saying no,don`t feel anything at all.Well, turned out it wasn`t a tetanus shot at all-it was a Pnuemococal shot:rolleyes:,so we went to Urgent Care for a shot. They also gave him antibiotics. Today we will go to Animal Control and file a report so they can check for proof that the dog is current on his rabies vax.

Pic of his leg today.....

What did the dog's owner say?

Was that a large dog?

Our dog isn't big, but he thinks he has to 'greet' everyone.
Will jump up , wanting petted.

My husband & his helper think that's cute.

Am having a hard time trying to train the dog & the guys.

He wears a harness in the house, makes a great hand hold place.
I grab it & into the kennel when he doesn't settle down.

Our neighbor's dog is crazy. Don't knock on the front door, he's in there tearing it up.
I can only imagine the damage he has done to the door and wall. Wanna talk with them
Telephone. The dog stays in the yard, shock collar. He is sort of like a German Sheppard.

That's terrible. That man should have never let his dog run out, can't believe how irresponsible some dog owners are.

That was one very big, hard bite, to leave that bruise. I bet that wasn't the first time that dog bit someone. It almost broke the skin .. through denim.
@Pinky It actually did break the skin-in two places.

We are taking the doc`s advice though, and reporting it. One,in case this isn`t his first reported bite, and two,if it is the first,if it happens again, there will be a history. Dog was older and not very big he said. Just very fat,but obviously could jump pretty high.

I didn`t see a ting because I was waiting in the car, chatting with our daughters. I heard the dog going crazy barking but I just assumed he was in the yard barking through the fence. Probably a good thing as I would have jumped out and possibly been bitten too.

It should be reported to the authorities. Just imagine if it attacked a small child. Once during one of my walks a small dog almost bit me, I complained to the owner who said, "My dog doesn't bite". When I got home, I rang the local police station and told them what happened. I asked them if I carried a small spray bottle of water mixed with ammonia and spray it at the dog could I be charged with cruelty? and the officer said No, you protect yourself at all costs. Well that's what I do now.

He did file a report with Animal Control yesterday. He had to file the report online and attach photos, then they will contact him to get more info on the inident. They told him that all dog bites in Idaho require that the dog be quarantined for ten days whether they are vaxxed or not,so I guess that is what will happen.
