Just a passing thought.

No one ever said that if you don't wear a mask you'll get COVID. The idea was to reduce your chances of spreading or catching it.

Everyone's chance of catching it went down because so many people wore masks and/or got vaccinated that the spread of the virus slowed down. Those of you who didn't wear a mask or get vaccinated and still didn't get COVID have those of us who did do those things to thank.

Whatever you think your reason for not catching it was, there's no reason to try to mock the rest of us. We were trying to be good citizens and protect others as well as ourselves.

And people still don't understand wearing a mask was to stop you from spreading covid, not to prevent you from getting it.
True, a lot of people believed it would work both ways...because it's logical to think that if masks prevent the virus going out, they could prevent it coming in.

But it only took a few months for researchers to discover that the COVID virus was so minuscule, masks commonly worn by the general public couldn't do either.

And that means what, exactly? That the epidemiologists were stupid or that they were learning about the virus as they went along? That the people who wore masks were stupid or that they were trying to do the simple things they could to slow the spread?

Are the people who never wore masks smarter than the scientists and all the rest of us -- or do they just think they are and can't quit bragging about it?

The OP is a form of gloating. It's telling those of us who obeyed the advice of the authorities that we were stupid. It's as if someone told the Vietnam vets they were stupid to go because hindsight says we lost the war anyway.

Nobody is calling anyone "stupid"

Nobody is calling anyone stupid for making whatever choice they made or still make. The OP was just pointing something out that I believe is interesting, and that is those who did not wear masks or get vaccinated did not die like the govt said they would. Fear is a powerful motivator.
No one talks about this but everyone knows and remembers how things were at the time. It could be an interesting subject to study but we're still not appreciated for even questioning the narrative or bringing it up. Without discourse, how can we succeed in making discoveries? It's time to quit name calling and accept people for who they are whatever decision they made for themselves during this health care crisis. Just the way I see it.

Yes, researchers learned more and more about the SARS CoV-2 virus as they studied it. It was a brand new virus.

People wore masks, not because they were stupid, but because they were advised to wear them, and sometimes required to wear them. Some people stopped wearing them when scientists who are smarter than they are said that the masks we were wearing couldn't contain the virus effectively.

The OP is not gloating or bragging or calling anyone stupid. He posted a meme; a funny. Obviously, not everyone thinks it's funny, but it isn't the first time someone posted a meme on SF that fell flat with some of us.

My mistake then. I recognize cartoons as "funnies." This looked to me like a picture of Brad Pitt asking why all the non-mask wearers weren't dead. Since they obviously aren't all dead, I assumed it was a rhetorical question meant to imply that the people who did wear masks were foolish. If that wasn't the point, what was the point?

You made no mistake.

If we suspect that we are coming down with something, we mask in public out of consideration for others. Otherwise, we don't bother. I think masking helped me because I can't keep my hands away from my face and mouth otherwise :)
Two grands that live across the street are 9 and 12. They bring everything home from school but enjoy being with them so much that I just take my chances.
Faulty memory I am sure, but I don't recall illness being as rampant when I was in school. (I am 65). It's always something now. A few weeks ago a stomach virus kept half of the 9 year old's class home. It was going through the middle school too.
