Colour hair or gracefully grey?

I don’t really know how the process works. When they put the color remover on my hair they said it took out 80 percent of the auburn color. They added highlights which I am sure hides the 20 percent left. My hair is still super soft.
Isn’t removing hair colour done with bleaching? I know a woman with knee length thick blond hair who gets about a foot of hair bleached so she can add pinks , blues and purples and they’ll show up. I’ve never heard of a process to strip colour without first bleaching it. That’s why it takes so long. After a while she’d gradually cut the ends off and start again. She had strikingly gorgeous hair though.

I don't color my hair but wish my hair wasn't so white/grey (and thinning!) I'm too lazy to worry about coloring it and having to maintain the color.

Don’t they make hair dye for men that gradually turns hair darker.
Just for Men - gradual Salt and Pepper look you can easily do yourself . It’s a gradual process.

I did try something called Gen X for a time, it's works as you described. It tuned my hair a shiney grey that looked obviously colored.

The problem with me, and other male seniors, is the rest of our body hair turns white and even our skin looks bleached out, so when you color your hair it's kind of obvious.

I'm waiting for a pill you can take that colors all the hair on your body the same color, from the inside out, maybe that will be more natural looking.

As for thinning hair I don't plan on trying to fight or hide that, I just keep cutting it shorter.

I take hair and nail vitamins. I think they help with the thinning.
There's several products for thinning hair.
Or, don't worry about it. We all have the same problem! 😁
I take black currant oil

Actually I DO know what you mean. I used to colour my hair with henna so it was a deep reddish - cherry cola colour.

As the years progressed I couldn’t help notice how the colour really shone through. It looked really cool but I had to colour my roots every 10 days cause I’d get a wide line of silver grey hair. With almost 4 feet of hair, it took a really long time. Finally in 2014 , I stopped all colouring. It looked different in different lighting but you can see the orange coloured streaks. Here is a hair ornament I made from spalted maple wood off our property.

I was delightfully surprised to discover my skin is no longer ripping like tissue paper since I have been using a hair and nail supplement. I started using the supplement for my hair and nails and I think my hair is better. My time spent in a hot tub and swimming pool is very hard on my nails. Using hair conditioner is essential and a moisturizing body soap is improving my skin. That is after biotin strengthened my skin.

As for hair color- I want to double my working hours and I am considering trying to fool myself into believing I still have the vitality I once had by dying my hair. I may use one that washes out.

Nice braiding and nice hair ornament.

Thank you. I took them down cause I don’t want to appear like I’m gloating. I’m showing the colour to show what I had to grow out.

Oh my darling, what if we all thought we are supposed to gloat and show off? Imagine totally enjoying who we are and what we can do and flaunting all of it, encouraging others to do the same. That is not my reality, but what if-

In reality, I hate pictures of myself and I hate it when people insist on taking my picture and expect me to be delighted. So back to the subject, I wonder if darker hair would help me psychologically? What worries me most is the hassle of covering the roots.

I’d like to totally enjoy who I am and not feel insecure about showing off my hair but I get a lot of negative feedback. My husband says it’s just people getting jealous. I don’t really know why I get such negativity. I think I’ll take them down again.

I hate having my picture taken also. I literally have hundreds of pictures of my husband and maybe a dozen of myself. When my 15 year old dog died last year, I regret not having many pictures of her and I together. I have thousands of pictures of her but probably less than a dozen with her and I.

If you colour your hair you will regret it. That keeping up with the roots gets really old.

Boy, I can resonate with your need to be defensive. So let us work together on improving human relationships. I don't know exactly how we do that but I remember some happy childhood moments and have hope that can be recreated.

How about putting in a soft purple? I did that once before it was as popular as it is today and I got very good reactions. It was the kind that washes out and today with almost daily swimming that isn't practical.

Hum, how about a wig? Maybe next winter I will try a wing. But with the way my neck sags changing my hair color won't make a big difference. I would love to have my neck lifted. 😄

Does anyone remember Yul Brynner in The King and I? He didn't need any hair to be very attractive. 😉

There is a young girl working at Walmart. She has light peach colored hair. It is so pretty!
:) That does seem appealing. I googled it and saw one that has light streaks of pink instead of a solid color and that is doable. Oh, I am excited and need to speak with the gal who cuts my hair.

I may be accepting a new job assignment and that is why I have to trick myself into having more energy by looking younger if I can. Pink is the color of love and that is the right message to send in the new job.

There are coloured spray foams you can purchase at Walmart. I forget the name of it but they have pink, purple, blue, green, copper, rose gold, gold and silver. They wash out effortlessly. Put a streak of colour in part of your hair, the fringe or bangs area usually looks the nicest. I like my natural colour. These foams really stand out in my hair. You might like them too.

I just googled it and no it’s not the same. Bleach removes all the color from your hair plus it’s more likely to damage your hair. This process is easier on your hair and doesn’t remove all the color.

That’s good. It really did damage this woman’s hair badly. She literally had the nicest hair Ive ever seen but she’d have to cut about 6 to 8 inches off each time she did it. It’s interesting that they’d found a way to take colour out. If they had this type of treatment 10 years ago I would have tried to take my henna colour out but most stylists won’t touch hennaed hair.
That was worth the $400 . A 7 hour appointment is truly a day at the salon

This post which I initially dismissed got me thinking that maybe there’s a way not to cover the white but to color the auburn section to match the brown on top. So I consulted a colorist that was recommended that specializes in doing this. So next week I’m giving it a try.

After I made the appointment a woman in my building said she did this so it didn’t look so bad while it was growing out. She said she only had to do it once. Thanks for planting the seed 😊.
Please show us photos after you do this, if possible. I am interested. Thanks!

Hey with my Spring fever, I may do something crazy like that. 😄 I think one of my granddaughters would help. My hair is white so any color will be noticeable.

Your granddaughter would probably be ‘thrilled’ to help if you asked. Probably even honoured. Thats a grand idea. Pink, purple and blue are the nicest colours.
