The Daily Complaint Corner

I am irked by idiots when grocery shopping stop to look at a shelf item and leave their cart smack dab in the middle of the aisle with only a narrow way around it. Worse are those who give their cart a tug so it is turned about 45 degree and blocks even more of the aisle.
I call them cart bullies. They are the worst at the Goodwill.

I have heard it said that people with small children in the cart seat need to stay in the middle because small kids try to grab items.

Over the weekend, my Walmart online delivery service schedule was broken. I couldn't get an order delivered for a particular service. This morning, it was working again. I was super excited. Several hours later, it broke again.

I called Walmart and was told that it was fixed so the glitch was particular to my area or my account. He lied. After 10 calls and an online chat that all took over 2 hours, the verdict is that it's still broken.

It was bad enough that it was broken, but to be given the hope that it's working again to have my hope be dashed again, that's upsetting. 😠

That's the truth! Years ago at Christmas time, I was pushing my cousin's 18-month-old around in a stroller at the mall while her mom tried on clothes.

We had made a quick trip into one of those candle-and-soap emporium and were about three or four stores down the mall when I looked down and to my horror, she was holding a cellophane-wrapped gift basket that she had apparently snagged off a low shelf.

I broke the Olympic 100-yard-dash record getting back to the store, flinging the basket onto the nearest surface and beating a hasty retreat.

I had visions of handcuffs rather that sugarplums dancing in my head that day. "Oh, yeah, lady, the baby stole the basket......TURN AROUND AND PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK!!!!"

Needless to say, we stayed out of the stores after that.

That baby is a college freshman now and I love to "poke" her about the time she almost landed us in jail.

Me too, I've put at least 20 pounds on and I really hate it. I don't eat that much but I've slowed down. I don't want to diet so I suppose I will just have to stay like this.
I hear you. I gained quite a lot during the pandemic and I have to practically eat next to nothing to lose a few pounds. I was told to lose weight by doctors but it's easier said than done. I have a long way to go.

FWIW, I gave up most sugary foods ( and there are a lot of them) and easily lost 10 pounds. Then I gave up highly processed foods, especially the carby ones, and lost another 15. This may or may not work for others. We are all different. I offer this only as an idea, not a cure-all.

FWIW, there is no doubt in my mind that our highly processed food diets contribute to weight gain. The sacrifice is you have to learn to cook and prepare your own meals.

Cutting calories too much puts your body in starvation mode where it actually slows down the burning of calories. The trick is to eat your calories using the right foods. Carbs are fat fertilizer, IMO. So are most highly processed foods, IMO.

You might want to get a copy of Always Hungry by Dr. Ludwig from the library. That’s the book that really got me going on the right path. Again it worked and is working for me. That’s all I claim.
