Kid that mowed my lawn last year, lost access to mower

If things weren't bad enough here, I need my lawn mowed. The kid that mowed for me last last fall, said he'd call me near the end of April to set up a schedule.
I didn't hear from him, so I called him. He said he lost access to the riding mower he used and my lawn is too large to mow with a walk-behind. Now I have to hunt for a new lawn service which will likely be much more expensive.

Or
Bite the bullet and buy a mower the kid can use
If it were me in that position. I'd offer the kid the use of a power walk behind
See what he says
If I bought a riding mower mower, I could do it myself. I can't do the maintenance required of a mower owner plus I have no place to put it. He already told me that my lawn is too large for him to do it with a walk-behind.

Around here, you can rent goats to chew down your lawn, weeds, whatever.
Even though I was kidding about the goat, they are the perfect lawn mower. 1/3 of an acre minus the house isn’t a large yard. A goat could easily take care of the entire thing but I doubt Deb will want one. Cleaning up after the goat would be another thing altogether. The area where Deb lives probably wouldn’t allow it anyway.

Kid that mowed my lawn last year, lost access to mower. Maybe start a lawnmower fund amongst your neighbors and buy a lawnmower for the kid?

That’s a terrible idea. It’s nice to know your neighbours from a distance. Getting them all involved will mean they will want some free service too and it could get fairly ugly.

Deb should get a lawn mower and do it herself. The self propelled ones are super easy to use. We have a beautiful Honda self propelled mower and it’s easy as pie to use. The lawn mower guy doesn’t seem terribly interested. Maybe he’s making excuses cause he finds her to hard to deal with.

Either way, she has a lawn that needs cutting. She might even consider renting a self propelled mower to see how easy it is to use.

Of course it is a terrible idea same as setting fire to your lawn so the grass won’t grow.
