Yet another fool thinking he could solve a minor issue (or in this case, a non issue) with a gun! What the HELL is wrong with people! Thank God that poor boy was not injured. The shooter said he thought someone was breaking into his car. How about calling the police or even yelling out a warning..."Hey I have a gun, you'd better leave". Had he used the latter tactic, he would have found out that the pizza delivery boy was actually looking for what turned out to be the house next door.

The boy's parents think he should be charged with attempted murder and I ain't mad at 'em, as they say. I hope that dumb a*s does some serious jail time, not just get a slap on the wrist. I also hope he didn't procreate. Video included:

I sometimes wonder what goes through the minds of people such as the shooter. There was no logic involved whatsoever - as you pointed out OneEyedDiva, he could have called out a warning, and if he wasn't comfortable doing that, then the police should have been called to handle it. Luckily the young man was not injured. This isn't the wild west but some people still seem to think it is - shoot first, ask questions later.

One can almost imagine Homer Simpson saying, “Guns…the solution to and cause of so many problems!

Something similar put my wife and I off visiting the USA. I had a schoolfriend who was married to an American and domiciled in Savannah GA. We would visit them every year then go off exploring, it really was most enjoyable. Then on one occasion there was some sort of commotion and a bystander, in an agitated state, told us that a motorist had been dragged out of his car and the thief then jumped in and drove off. The motorist then pulled out a gun and fired it at the car. A lucky shot hit the thief in the shoulder, it didn't kill him, but he did lose control of the car causing it to go under the wheels of a huge truck. That killed him.
I'm not advocating stealing but I would never think that if my car had been similarly stolen that I would shoot the perpetrator. Much as we enjoyed our visits to the US, we have never been back since that incident.

No shortage of gun nutters around, I'm not anti-gun, but am definitely anti-gun nutter. I'm surprised anyone wants to deliver anything anymore, with these angry paranoid trigger happy fools around. I've had people who were lost pull into my driveway or ring my bell, when they find they're in the wrong place, they always apologize. Not a big deal to me, certainly not worth trying to kill them.

You're right. All the shooter had to do was use his words and say something. "Who are you? What are you looking for?"

Maybe everyone who wants to buy a gun needs to sit through six classes on How to Speak first? Same with that man who shot and killed the young woman who accidentally turned into his driveway by mistake. JUST TALK. Hold your gun if you must, but ask a freakin' question!

The driver had a PIZZA BAG. I think we also need classes for gun buyers to teach them what is in a pizza bag 99.99999% of the time - it's not an AK-47. It's usually pizza.

Perhaps delivery people could phone the customer once they get to their destination, and have the customer come out to accept their order. At least, they would know they're at the right house. Won't happen though.
wel ya probably dealing with strains of schizo-affective disorders ; manic -depressive psychosis and out and out gun tottin young men who don't need to do a mental health fitness check when purchasing a gun - ya got an explosive keg on ya hands there all ov er the country!!

Well, good thing for the customer at least he didn’t drop the pizza. That would have made a mess in the box.

Seriously speaking, this man is probably in a heap of trouble. I can only speak for PA, but the D.A. May have trouble with filing an attempted murder charge. To file that charge, the Prosecutor would have to be able to prove to the jury that the shooter wantonly fired his gun at the young lad with the “intent” to kill him. Trying to prove “intent” can be very difficult. In PA, he could get up to 20 years.

My guess is that jail time will depend on whether the shooter has any other arrests, hopefully he’s not a felon and shouldn’t have a weapon to begin with. The judge will have a lot of latitude in this case and will take into consideration if he’s a family man and needs money to support his family, pay the mortgage and car payments, food, etc. A lot for the judge to consider. He could get off with a suspended sentence and a fine.

We will all have to wait and see.

Glad the delivery boy wasn't hurt. I'm not one to shout gun control, but if you don't have self control you don't need a gun. I would defend my family if someone broke in, but I would think twice about the car outside. I have insurance that covers those things. It takes little or no effort to shoot a gun or for that matter to kill someone. The issue is living with that act for all those effected.

Yes. Thieves out to steal cars usually don't carry pizzas with them. It's becoming more and more obvious that some gun owners are just watching out the window waiting for an excuse to use that gun.

How many people with schizo affective disorder, or schizophrenics do you know personally?
I work in the mental health sector and I can assure you that the dangerous individuals are by far the minority.
It's just another responsible gun owner, exercising his God given Second Amendment rights. Plus the 18 year old probably looked Latino, or Black, that's enough for the shooter to "fear for his life", and standing his ground by plugging holes in one of those damn illegals.
Both of these posts would be more credible if the word probably was replaced with maybe or possibly.

It is crazy, they shouldn't even have to do that. You should not take out your gun and prepare to use it unless someone is actively threatening you or a family member, or violently breaking in through your window or door. Just the presence of someone on your property, especially in the city or suburbs is no excuse to pull your gun. If you're that paranoid or full of hate, you shouldn't even have a gun. Innocent people should not have to worry about being shot at by some ignorant nutter.

This is horrible. My guess is that young man was no where near touching his car but he uses that as an excuse. It wouldn't be a valid excuse if it was happening. Something wrong with this shooter. I agree attempted murder. This person is nuts.
