What are you favorite opening lyrics to a song ?

Another..... from too long ago

Don't know when I've been so blue
Don't know what's come over you
You've found someone new and
Don't it make my brown eyes blue

I'll be fine when you're gone
I'll just cry all night long
Say it isn't true and
Don't it make my brown eyes blue

"Nights in white satin, never reaching the end...
Letters I've written, never meaning to send..." Moody Blues

"If I could save time in a bottle, the first thing that I'd like to do...
Is to save everyday til eternity passes away, just to spend them with you." Jim Croce

Goodness, you all have great taste!

May I add..... songs done by Rod Stewart (Reason to Believe, I don't want to talk about it, First cut is the deepest) have some pretty strong insights into hurtful love. Even the Everly Brothers sang about it in "Love Hurts".

The Moody Blues has a number of songs dealing with love and relationships and life.

But to move to more upbeat moods, there is nothing like the lyrics of a good car song...... Beach Boy's "409", "Shut Down", "Little Deuce Coupe", "Fun Fun Fun", etc. And then there is Ronny & the Daytonas","Little GTO".

And who can forget Chuck Berry's "Maybelline", with my favorite line, "nothin outruns my V8 Ford"!

We are so fortunate to have so many great songs from the 1930s thru the end of the century. So many are just timeless and so meaningful.

Same Old Lang Syne - Dan Fogelberg

Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
I stole behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve

She didn't recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me, and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
For your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone

"You'll Never Walk Alone" is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel. In the second act of the musical,
It was composed by Richard Rodgers with the lyrics of Oscar Hammerstein.

wow that one certainly hit the spot - I wanted it to go on for ever - message from the stars I think
