Growing a beard, looking for advice on beard care

Basically first time growing a beard to this length and would appreciate some advice on beard products and moisturizers. Anything that I don't have to kill or sacrifice to the gods.

Make sure your wife likes it 😉 Personality I don't like the long, scruffy beard look but rather a nicely trimmed shorter one or a goatee.

Ed, when it's grown out pretty full, go to a barber and ask them to shape it and clean up the edges. Then get yourself a barber set, like Wahl or ManScaped, and do what the barber did. Might take 2 trips to the barber, but you'll get it down.

I grew a beard long time ago. The damn thing itched really bad when it was growing in. When it got pretty long, people started treating me like I was some kind of serial killer, like any moment I could snap. Plus my beard had two big gray streaks coming from my mouth- so then I looked like an old serial killer. I felt so much cleaner when I shaved it off. My beard wasn't a neatly trimmed thing- think woolly mammoth.

Just curious: What length would that be???
Beard is growing nicely, going to the barber today for a trim and advice on upkeep. Don't have any plans or destination of length, but I think it's cool.

Yup

I got some caffeine bar soap from eBay for a little kick in the morning shower. I had my beard trimmed today, it's ok but I wish I had said something when the hairdresser decided to raise the baseline of my beard instead letting it be. That's the only Issue I have about somebody else doing what I should be doing for myself. My wife and I will trim it from now onward.

I've trimmed my beard for many decades
I built a custom three way mirror to see ALL the angles
That worked until I lost most my eyesight

My lady (she's my barber) now trims my beard

Not unhappy

Started my first real beard at 42.
This went along with letting my hair grow out, so I would look 'normal'.
Wanted to experiment with both, now that no one could tell me I was out of 'REG'!
Settled on a fairly short beard and very long hair in my 70's.

Guess I was late for the middle-life crisis party...
