EXPEND4BLES Trailer #1 (2023)

I can understand the disappointment with the latest film in the series. It’s billed as an Expendables movie but morphs into a Jason Statham movie with a high-dollar supporting cast. Tony Jaa is the highlight to the new additions and he still can float like a butterfly. Most of the veteran cast members from the previous films are absent and Stallone only plays an extended cameo role. If this was marketed as a Statham movie it would have received a better score. As an Expendables flick, it just gets a 6 out of 10.

Godzilla (1998) Trailer #1

HERE THERE BE SPOILERS

This version of Godzilla is a difficult one to give a simple overall rating. Honestly, if Hollywood had just made this into a generic monster movie, kind of the way they did with Cloverfield, it would have easily been an above average movie, possibly even breaking into 4 star territory. The acting is above average (including the must-have flavor of the month, Jean Reno), the F/X are excellent for 1998 and the plot actually makes sense.

Nevertheless, the failure for this movie is that it was made by people not familiar with the franchise and/or what Godzilla means to his fanbase. Godzilla is to the people of Japan what Batman and Superman are to Americans, what Dr. Who and James Bond are to the British and what Shaft and the Black Panther are to the Black Community.

The demotion of Godzilla to that of nothing more than an over-sized animal working wholly upon instinct instead of the more humanistic level of intelligence that we in the fandom have come to know and expect was a slap in the face. Furthermore, the final scene where Godzilla is killed (a blasphemy only seen two other times in his 60 year history (Gojira (1954) and Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995), the later being the planned end to the franchise in its entirety) by only three F/18s and a total of 6 missiles when entire armies have done nothing more than irritate the King of Monsters was beyond belief.

For those not familiar with Godzilla’s accomplishments and reputation, imagine the outrage that would come from the respective communities if James Bond was taken out by a mall cop or Superman was killed by 3 six-year-old brats with baseball bats. Now you understand why Japanese movie-goers were storming the box-offices DEMANDING a full refund for this insult and why Toho quickly resurrected their dearly departed Kaiju less than one year later for probably one of the best movies in the entire franchise, Godzilla 1999 (Godzilla 2000 here in the United States).

All in all, as a monster movie, Godzilla gets 7 stars. However, for a Godzilla movie, it gets a 2 star rating. I’ll cut the difference and meet them somewhere around the middle with a 5 star final score out of 10.

Shaft’s Big Score (1972)

Shaft's Big Score! Official Trailer #1 - Richard Roundtree Movie (1972) HD

Shaft takes on the Italian and Black mobs to find a missing $250,000 and return it to a widow. The second movie in the original Shaft Trilogy. Decent action, some great helicopter stunts and plenty of sexual energy oozing from Richard Roundtree. He still is a bad mother...SHUT YOUR MOUTH.... I'm just talking about Shaft. It gets a 6 out of 10.

Here Comes the Boom (2012)

HERE COMES THE BOOM - Official Trailer - In theaters 10/12

Kevin James plays a former teacher of the year that has lost his inspiration for teaching. In the hopes of saving a friend’s (Henry Winkler) teaching job, he transforms from a mild-mannered Biology teacher to a fighter in the MMA. Looking to raise $48k to save the music program, James looks to simply participate in the matches to get paid the loser’s portion of the take. Proving that people can accomplish anything they set their minds to do, James eventually gets to the UFC just when the wheels come completely off his wagon. Forced now to actually pull off the upset victory, James must now either win or go home a complete failure. An inspirational movie, with even a rom-com flavor, everyone can enjoy. 8 out of 10.

A Shot in the Dark (1964)

A Shot in the Dark (1964) | Official Trailer | MGM Studios

Technically, the second film in the original Pink Panther series, A Shot in the Dark was originally a play where Blake Edwards wrote in the character of Inspector Clouseau to give Peter Sellers an original part to play. This movie was actually finished before The Pink Panther, but was released a few months after it. Sellers gives a spectacular performance as only he could. A comedy classic. 8 out of 10 minkeys.

Ocean’s Eleven (2001)

Ocean's Eleven (2001) Official Trailer

A remake of the 1960 Rat Pack favorite. This one has more of a Vegas 60s vibe than the original, and IMO a better ending. The dead spot we normally see in the middle of films is non-existent here. An All-Star cast takes on the city's toughest casino owner and looks to empty his pockets of $160 million in a single night. There is excellent chemistry between the complete cast, especially Clooney and Pitt. This gets an 8 out of 10 and keeps you guessing until the credits roll.

Ocean's Twelve (2004) Trailer #1 | Movieclips Classic Trailers

The sequel to the 2001 hit, the crew is tracked down by their previous mark and forced to repay the money they stole + interest ($198 million in two weeks). Too hot to pull another job in America, Ocean’s Eleven is forced to go to Europe to look for work. None of the jobs they attempt make any sense as they spend more to do the job than the value of what they are attempting to steal. The weakest of the series, this movie was as forced as the jobs they pull. A pathetic 6 out of 10.

Little Big Man

This is one of those movies you have to see if you like great films. This is a long movie but it is so good you'll never want it to end.I rated this movie a 10 but only cause the scale doesn't go any higher.

This is the story of Jack Crabb who begins the movie as a 121 year old man in a nursing home recounting his life. And what a life it was.He bounces back and forth in the Old west between the world of the white man and the world of the Native American.Crabb sees and does just about everything possible in both worlds. The joy and sadness and fun he has along the way makes for one helluva movie.

Dustin Hoffman is brilliant in this film.It may be his best performance ever yet it is somehow overlooked when many people think of his movies. It is a tour de force for Hoffman who plays an Indian and gunslinger and drunkard and muleskinner and many other things in this movie. Chief Dan George is nothing short of amazing in this movie. But yet one critic said he wasn't acting,he was just an Indian playing an Indian.Bah! Richard Mulligan was so perfect as General George Custer in this movie that he is who I see whenever I hear the name of Custer mentioned.Faye Dunaway and Martin Balsam create memorable characters too.

This movie makes one of the strongest statements I've ever seen about the treatment of the Native Americans, yet you probably won't even realize it at the time. This is a movie that you'll replay in your head and then it hits you that there was even more there than met the eye.

The humor, tragedy and lush characters will stay with you long after you see this movie. This movie is based on the fine book by Thomas Berger and is very faithful to it. I recommend the book wholeheartedly, too.

I saw this one twice. I have been a Godzilla movie fan since childhood. I'm still discovering ones I haven't seen yet! If you have Apple+, I'd be interested in knowing what you think of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, featuring Godzilla. If you do not have Apple+ you can start a 7 day free trial now. Monarch has 10 episodes so should be easy to finish within that time period (if you like it). Have you seen the latest Godzilla flicks?

I liked Cloverfield way more than I expected...even with the shaky camera effect going on. I'd actually like to see it again.
I saw all three Ocean's movies, didn't care for 12; bought the VHS tape for $1.
I'm thinking I must've seen Shaft's Score but can't remember for sure. I only saw one Pink Panther movie.

TY for the welcome. I, too, am a big Godzilla fan and have most of his movies on DVD. I have an alternate access to Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and have put it on my pending watch list. Stay tuned for a review in the near future. I've watched everything up to the Godzilla vs Kong movies and Godzilla Minus One. I have been saving them for a bad day that I need to have an uplifting moment.

🎥 OCEAN'S THIRTEEN 2007 Movie Trailer Full HD 1080p

The cumulation of the trilogy, the final movie fixes everything that was wrong with the previous one. The dead weight of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Julia Roberts are absent with the new additions of Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin bringing a new dimension to the production. Clooney, Pitt and Damon all shine. This time, the heist makes sense, flows and tops even the accomplishment of the 3-Casino heist from the original. IMO, the best of the series. A 9 out of 10 diamond score.
