Hawks in our garden -- the first picture taken just minutes ago; my very first picture of this year's litter.

left: today's picture (enlarged) of the baby hawk in our Palm Tree -- center: our adult resident hawk, most likely the parent --- right: a hawk fledgling was just a few feet away from me.

Well, even hawks have to eat (I won't show the details.) --- A fledgling is sitting on my P/U and is investigating our carport

It’s because of the hawks nesting in our trees that we cannot let our chickens run around lose. Surprisingly, despite the hawks, we have also many other birds in our garden.

@birdy This also happened in our garden; the hawk carried away an at least 3 foot long snake perhaps heavier that the hawk itself.

yes she called me today and I said.. I'm freaking out here at the thought of potentially what's going to go on.. she said.. No.. it's exchange by E-Mail... .. so then I said E-mail?.. no-one told me that....I've had all these forms filled out, and all the copies of my bank statements as hard copies.. all legal documents regarding outgoings and incomings.. for the last 12 months... which I was asked to do by His lawyers... and now I'm told these all have to be scanned into my computer.. and E-Mailed... There's over a hundred documents.. and I'm only now being told that I have to scan all these in ( presuming I have a scanner).. and do it all literally at the eleventh hour..? I was horrified..

I was just on the point of throwing it all in.... I could've done this months ago when they first made the demand for the information..

Now, at literally hours before I was due to exchange I had to ''learn'' how to scan documents from my printer and into my Mac.. I literally have never done this before..I only use my printer as a copier... so I had to spend quite some time, trying to find some kind of tutorial, and there wasn't any.. so I literally had to teach myself, and for the first half hour it all kept going wrong.. . 😖

Finally I got it to work, and then I spent 7 hours scanning, uploading, making folders saving to several areas of my computer, and harddrives...It's not helped by the fact that my printer and my computer are in different rooms.. so I sent all day running from one room to the other, every minute or 2...

Didn't have one drink... it was a beautiful day and I didn't step one foot outside... finally finished at 9.30pm ....but the RUB..is that his lawyer did not mail me the time for exchange ... as she said she was going to do today....

I'm just shocked at how tardy his lawyer..is..

It's now almost 11pm, and I've just had something to eat ... I'm exhausted.

Incidentally, all the copies of everything has to be emailed to his lawyer at the precise time they state .. and they will email his back to me...this is how it's supposed to work.. but I'm concerned given their laziness that they won't stick to the rules.. by law they have to, so let's hope... but then this is only the beginning ..I have to then send all the documents that I have of my own scanned, and filed... to my lawyer as well ... and all of the documents that his lawyers sends me of His Financial Info.... and believe me he has many more than me , I know that because he has many more bank accounts than me... and then there's his pensions which he has to declare and mortgage papers and so on..

I'm telling you all... if you're even thinking of divorce beware.. this is far from easy....
I have no experience of no fault divorces but, it seems as if his solicitors are handling the exchange for him while your solicitors are not?

I would have thought your solicitor could have had you deliver, post or email your financial exchange documents to her so she could go through them and have everything scanned and ready to go. The exchange could have then been between the solicitors. Once exchange had been completed, your solicitors could then have either emailed you the ex's documents or made an appointment for you to go in and go through them with her. Does that make sense? It seems a lot of work for you to do but, in an office environment where they are set up for all the scanning, printing and emailing, it would have taken a fraction of the time.

Sounds like a nightmare!

I must say this crossed my mind as well...in the US but the lawyer would be quite a bit more involved here. The paralegal would probably scan and send any documents at the appointed time.

In any legal dealings I have had in the past where two parties each have a solicitor, the solicitors deal with their respective clients and all exchanges or communications are dealt with between the solicitors.

Well, it's raining today and will continue for the afternoon and all night long. Also tonight its supposed to get quite cold, they are calling for "frost" and the next days its supposed to be quite cold all day. So haven't done anything in the garden yet other than pruning my roses. Some nice red tulips are in full bloom the only flower available at the moment!. Haven't even been to the greenhouse to buy my flower/veg plants because it's too cool and rainy. On the other hand still have some paiting to do in the house, so I'm not "jobless" sofar:D

Well, it rained all day so, as I have bought some new teeshirts, I thought I would go through my old ones and donate some to the rag bag, they are great as dusters etc.

I also got a few things done and sorted out some paint and brushes as, apparently, the sun will not be back until Friday so, perfect time to freshen up some paintwork at home and get rid of those half used pots of paint. Afterwards I tidied up the walk-in cupboard and played the "Chuck It, Keep It" game, which is always fun :)

Sometimes you regret opening the mail. Got a monthly drug summary from my prescription insurance under Medicare. Several items have increased in cost by 13% since 3 months ago and none of them went down. Worse yet all of the increases are in my co-pays and out-of-pocket so the increase to me is basically 3 times that or 40%.

Could be worse, could have no coverage. But then I haven't even figured in what my premiums cost me yet. Insurance isn't free to me and the retirement system that I'm vested in.

Not to whine too much. I know a lot of people pay all or a larger fraction of the cost themselves.

I watched a recent speech by Warren Buffett (ok, not the most impartial voice) where he says this high inflation is just the bill coming due for decades of artificially suppressed interest rates. I guess by failing to wheel and deal in the real estate market I was a sucker and missed the gravy train portion of the cycle that pumped wealth out of the heartland into pockets on the coasts.

@dilettante I don't know what kind of insurance you have, but if you're on Medicare, the Part D doesn't have to be expensive. I'm with Kaiser Permanente and pay nothing, zero, zip for mine. I doubt that I'll ever reach the "donut hole" and have to pay for any prescriptions. So far, years in, I have rarely paid anything at all for my scrips. When I do have to pay, it's because it's a scrip that needs to be filled right away by the KP pharmacy rather than ordering by mail and getting them 90 days at a time but still has never cost me more than $7 in the Kaiser pharmacy on premises.

I'm not low income so none of my senior advantage or Part D is subsidized. My total premium is $9/month. My brother in Michigan is with Humana (he's low income) so his premium is subsidized, and there's no cost to him. His coverage is very good and scrips are free.

If you're on Medicare, do your due diligence and see what other insurers are out there and save yourself a bundle of $$.

81F here now, was 84F. Had to put my A/C on about a half hour ago. 76F and humidity in the house is awful for me. Even Doggy was panting.

Like a fool, I had the oven on, baking chicken.

I re-potted 2 plants, one from outside (Hibiscus) and a houseplant (Calathea). Fertilized.

Had a credit with Amazon so I ordered an inexpensive grow light for my plant-corner in the living room. The only place is a north/north east slider to the deck, so I think a grow light would help.

I spoke to my DD this evening and she was very proud that I managed to do some of the technical things I did yesterday lol.... she also said to me the sad thing is those documents which took me 6 hours to scan etc... she could have done with her industrial scanner at work in 30 seconds.... so she said to send them all to her through the post.. and she can scan them and reduce them to just 3 pages of documents so that I can save them for any further use at a later date....so that was very useful

I got all the bedding washed and dried including the comforters.... and for the first time in I don't know how long, I watched Afternoon TV.....:D

I've spent all day with my brand new washing machine / dryer. First I had to get up extra early to be ready to receive the delivery, then in the midst of the installation I had about 30 seconds after they moved out the old one to rush in with a broom and sweep up the dust bunnies before they put the new machine in the space.

The new machine is supposedly the same outer dimensions but the insides are huge. Though maybe part of that is because there is no agitator. I expected the typical agitator sticking up in the middle, but it is an "infusor" style which I didn't even know existed (and am not sure how it works).

There is only a 48 hour return window, so after successfully running a regular cycle and the quick wash cycle, I decided to do a maximum load test and threw in virtually all the towels in the house (including clean ones). And I chose the "deep rinse" option so it would get good and heavy. Well, at the end of the wash cycle while spinning out the wash water, the machine stopped and made loud bangs and I could see the sides of the machine being shoved outward. I was totally freaked, but it seemed to be entering rinse mode because the rinse and spin lights were blinking.

I babysat the machine all the rest of the way through the load, but while doing so I was reading the manual, and it turned out that the flashing rinse and spin lights meant "out of balance" and that "the washer is taking actions to correct the out-of-balance condition". My gosh, I would much prefer it just stop and let me rearrange the load!

It's more complex than that though.

My coverage beyond parts A & B is already pretty cheap aside from the copays at the start of each year before I hit my limit and they go to zero.

What they are reporting to me is that prices for a number of drugs have increased by 13+%, and since I haven't hit my copay maximum for the year... right now those increases are out of pocket for me.

The point is that inflation is far beyond what the media are trying to convince us it is. Just look at price increases everywhere.

@HoneyNut ...is that a top loader machine ?.. are they still popular in the US?... they've not been popular here for decades, most people prefer a front loader...

Nice to get a new machine tho'.. and you're right, you only get a minute when they take the old washer/stove/fridge/freezer..out to be a) embarrassed, at the dirt underneath or behind, and to clean it up before they bring in the new one.. :D

Just in case something comes up again, I use the local library. They have a big scanner that will do those big jobs (or small). The thing lets me email the file to my personal email and also to the receiving party. I then place my emails into folders for storage at home. The library scanner also sends the confirmation sheet for my records. I also use this same machine if I need to send a fax, I send the fax and confirmation to my email as well.

I don't have a printer at home so the rare times I need a copy I use their computer and printer.

I had run into that so now I make a sandwich, cake or pie. They are always willing to sit for a snack while I do the floor.
