My view right now is a cat looking at me like I should jump up and provide her evening meal. That and the pilot episode of Desperate Housewives.

Haven't heard any fireworks here yet...unusual because they usually start the night before NYE.

My corner of PA leaking ( raining).
Dreary appearing day.

Ordered hubby some bedroom slippers on Amazon.
Tried to get his Credit card recognized,, I hadn't renewed mine.

I don't think the order went through.

Our bank emails me trying to take out credit card with them.

Does anyone have credit card s through their bank?
What pros & cons of using your local bank?

Thanks for any advice.

despite their being fireworks at 2pm today now at 10pm there's nothing... not a sound... however the wind is very strong, so maybe that's put it on the backburner for most people who are setting off fireworks at their properties.. however how that will work for community Bonfires and fireworks displays , goodness Knows..

I have... I havent found any cons to it.. but clearly if you were in the red with the card, they are by law allowed to take the money out out of your current or savings accounts...

I did a lot of accounting today for both my son and myself; tallying what he owes for his charges, what I owe him for his 4th quarter cashback rewards and beginning the process of taking stock (pardon the pun) of my investments: quarterly shares, dividends and value tallies.

My son told me yesterday that barrels were blocking the steps to the laundry room. About 8 a.m. I decided to see if they were still there. If so I was going to set up my mini washer and spinner and do laundry up here, but they were gone. No one was down there so I made the impromptu decision to do laundry this morning, instead of waiting until Thursday. Glad I got that done!

Somehow I dropped my keys…didn’t hear them fall out of my pocket. Or I might have had them in my hand with the laundry bags, I don’t know. Thank God a neighbor I was chatting with had found them and gave them to me after realizing they were mine as I searched my pockets then said I couldn’t find my keys.

This afternoon, my youngest grandson called to find out if I have a laundry card. He wanted to come over and do his laundry before his trip to Florida tomorrow. Can’t blame him …our machines cost much less than at laundromats. Of course, he put money on the card to cover his laundry.

I made vanilla chai tea with whipped cream for us and we chatted a bit. He also got to speak with two of my out of state friends who had called. One was my BFF, who always asks about my grands; the other has been on my favorite online friends list for about 17 years. We call each other Sis. She was astonished at how deep his voice is. Got to talk with wonderful friends and see one of my “babies”. Today was a great day❣️

We are having one of our many social activities for the residents who are interested, and single. (This one is being hosted by our singles group). We are having a lasagna dinner downstairs in the party room, followed by a showing of My Cousin Vinny (one of my favorite movies, I can't watch it enough times), we get a glass of wine or another beverage if desired, so it's a sober but friendly event. At midnight, those who are still awake and present will watch the Times Square celebration. I will probably be snug in bed by then (unless "Vinny" runs really late).

A group of friends have reserved a table, so I'll be with people I enjoy. At this stage of life, what better way is there to celebrate this holiday?

A very happy new year to all my friends on this forum! 🎆
Sounds like a great NYE evening to me! I also love that movie. Marisa Tomei was killer in that role.

@holly,, hadn't thought about overdrawing on Credit card.
Planning on putting a limited amount on the card when I take one out.
really was thinking more of not paying the credit card..not that I would think You personally wouldn't but I was saying the only Con that I could see with havin a CC where you bank..is if a person gets behinnd on payments, or stops paying for any reason, then the bank is legally allowed to take the balance from your savings...

In my ongoing quest to fix/update everything in our house, we had a plumber come out today to check a leaky outdoor faucet where we couldn't remove the hose. He said it could either be a cog or the whole faucet might need to come out and he would need to cut into the drywall in the house! Thank goodness it was just the bolt and we are good to go. If anyone else is interested, he did say the reason the hose wouldn't detach is due to mineral buildup from the water source so I will be treating the faucet with CLR tomorrow. We will also not be attaching the hose unless we need to.

Boring, but one step at a time.

I appreciate any household easy repair that anyone cares to share. I use you tube a and try to do as much as I can. I fixed the fridge; it was leaking from the bottom.

I have two toilets that I am working on right now. Appear to need new seals between the tank and the toilet bowl. I have purchased the new seals and screws. Little harder than I thought to get the old screws out. More a problem of my hand strength and finding the right tools to loosen the bolts. I think I have it now. I may have a problem actually lifting the tank when I get them loose.

If I need brute strength, I will have to call the son into help.
