@CinnamonSugar How long will this drive be to your DD’s new home? Hopefully a reasonable time so you can go often.
Hey @Jules … if I could drive it straight through / no stops about 3.5 hrs. Figure in potty stops/food/ stretch breaks: about 5 hours@CinnamonSugar How long will this drive be to your DD’s new home? Hopefully a reasonable time so you can go often.
Gosh, I haven't used my bread machine in years! But, the few times I've made bread, I used those boxed mixes from the grocery store.I started a loaf in the bread machine, but not quite sure I put in the right amount of flour! I used a 1/2 cup measure and counted two, for each of 3 cups. That is, I think I did! omg... I wasn't sure, so I threw in a final half-cup. Brainless.
Have all the stuff out on the counter to make a nice veg-beef-barley soup. Now that my mise en place is en place, I'll be starting that soon.
My new bread knife arrived today. It's a beauty... gleaming steel, full tang, serrated and sharp! I'm hoping my bread comes out so I can use the knife.
The mixes are really good, especially for stocking up as the use by dates are usually quite long.Gosh, I haven't used my bread machine in years! But, the few times I made bread, I used those boxed mixes from the grocery store.
Have you ever used them?
No, Dobie I have not ever used them/ I think flour and yeast are cheaper, but maybe I need a pre-mix!Gosh, I haven't used my bread machine in years! But, the few times I've made bread, I used those boxed mixes from the grocery store.

That is a doosie and happens to everyone. At least it was not a cookie or cake dough with ingredients from hell. I started measuring everything into individual bowls. If it does not look right - re-measure. This has saved my sanity a time or two.I started a loaf in the bread machine, but not quite sure I put in the right amount of flour! I had a problem when, in my android phone settings, it was set to .heic. I'm sure I had a good reason for that setting but I was unable to post pictures to SF or other places. I finally found the problem in the phone settings.A brother with low computer skills who just bought a new Windows 11 laptop, phoned me yesterday Sunday evening asking for assistance sending his smartphone image files via email to a residential windows company he services product for. This was after a couple days and many hours of frustration. I worked in computer engineering hardware over many years and at one time did administration work on UNIX systems.
My own primary laptop is Windows 10 although I did buy for on the road travel, a cheap Windows 11 laptop collecting dust I'd need to turn on and read up on myself just to use again. Although I've occasionally advised him to always after booting a system up have on one's Windows screen, File Explorer (aka Windows Explorer, explorer.exe) and notepad.exe app windows open, he has never done so. Thus doesn't understand how to deal with issues once GUI applications stop performing like he's used to.
Many that use personal computers today do so almost entirely with a web browser open so Microsoft after Windows 7 began building their functionality around the Internet to the extent working with file systems is something many haven't a clue about even opening up. Thus system builders set up Windows to directly boot into the MS Edge Internet browser and not the Windows 11 desktop with a bunch of application ICONs already set up on user's Desktops so they don't even need to themselves create shortcuts for.
This is all the result of the dumbing down of computers due to the dominant phone smartphone era. Brother had all .heic extension phone camera images on his smartphone that his previous laptop applications automatically were set up to deliver via emails to his company. The extension .heic is an Apple and Iphone camera standard that is increasingly used with some higher tech Android phones too.
It took me a half hour just to get the brother to find the folder what in Windows 10 was named "This PC" that moron execs at Microsoft have a tendency to change names for with every new OS release. I had him type into the Task Bar search text box C: and "This PC" was way down at the bottom of a bunch of listings for OneDrive, Internet, camera, and other media stuff. So his actual PC system C: file system was somewhat not obvious. Microsoft should never had changed Windows Explorer's name to File Explorer.
I then had him in the text box drill down to C:/users/[his username]/ that had some of the below special files, like Documents, Downloads, My Pictures etc this tech person never uses on my own laptop.

There I had him make a new folder into which I made him copy all his camera .heic files by opening 2 windows.explorer windows then simply Mouse grabbing and dragging. His old PC image app worked directly from his camera memory so there was no need to copy those files directly into his old laptop. But in doing so, given issues, he was lost as to how to access those images or convert them to another extension his company could open.
The native Windows 10 or 11 image app is Photo (I use Irfanview or Photoshop). From there, one simply does from the three dots ... on the Photo Menu bar, a SaveAs and change the extension for the new copied file from .heic to .jpg. There are of course many third party apps that do the same thing and more as the default Windows 11 Photo app.
