Back in Chicagoland in the early/mid '60s, it was not unusual for a car's "name" to be painted on the front fender (behind the wheel). My first car was a red '54 Pontiac convertible with a straight "8" engine. It was appropriately called "The Red Roach".
The coolest car name in our area was a '55 black (primer) Olds 2 door with a tri-power motor. It was deemed "Gunslinger" in white cursive. The name likely came from Bo Diddley's song - "Bo Diddley's a Gun Slinger".
Haven't named any since then, but I have been tempted.......
