I keep getting pop-up adds from McAfee security . Just got one in my email saying my protection has expired, (I never had it) and I will be billed $400+ dollars for reinstatement .

Anyone know how to get rid of them completely ??

Ads, more than anything else, are related to your search/site history. If you're suddenly getting ads about security, it is probably related to your history. Without using a private browser, I know of no way to stop your activity from being recorded. The only sure way to stop the ads is to not use your computer online.

The last two days I've gotten bogus emails, one for "Order Conformation" for some crypto coin in the amount of $359.39, and one $359.99 for a year of Norton Antivirus, doubly bogus since I don't use Windows.

I get the one that asks me to confirm my $1199.99 purchase of the latest iphone....or whatever. Usually at around Christmas time. "If you did not order this item, click here."

Uh-huh.

My wife just got one pop up from McAfee that would not go off, so I turned her computer back a week. Go to “Recovery” and then “System Restore” and you should get a choice of dates. Click on the one prior to receiving the pop up, if it doesn’t go away.
